May Be Better Off With FULL Version of Streets and Trips , May 3, 2005
Overall, an okay product. Many people complain their street isn't shown or recent construction isn't shown, but it takes about 3 years for new mapping data to make it all the way from satellite imagery, to purchasable data for companies like Microsoft to obtain, and then into their finalized product. So, if that new road, neighborhood, etc. has been there less than 3 years, then you really cannot expect it to be in Pocket Streets.
If you purchase the full desktop version of Microsoft Streets and Trips then you're given the option to install the Microsoft Pocket Streets 2005 during installation of the full version. So, unless you ONLY want Pocket Streets, you're better off buying the full desktop version and installing it on your Pocket PC that way. Then you'll have a PC and a Pocket PC version of it and also have the ability to export maps from the full version to your Pocket version.
If you don't live in a major metropolitan area then the map of where you live will not be on the CD-ROM. You'll have to use the full desktop version of Microsoft Streets and Trips 2005 and export the map(s) you need.
The only change I would make to how the software works (other than the adding additional maps for those of us who don't live in major cities) is voice prompts. What's the point of having a PDA with GPS and Pocket Streets if I can't have it prompt me when to make a turn.

Not the PDA software you need., December 12, 2004
There is no search or travel direction capability. You have to download every states and need to know what "county" the address you are looking for(like in CA, you have LA, west, east or what?). A rip off by Microsoft for $29 dollars.

An utter embarrassment., May 24, 2005
This app is just horrendous. It is literally NOTHING more than a moving map; I'm serious. There are NO features at all. To make things worse, when zoomed out, the display is littered with the names of every little village and hamlet you've never heard of, leaving the names of recognizable towns a cities nowhere to be found. Also, at these zoom levels, most roads, streets and highways are not visible, making navigation impossible. This app does not even come close to qualifying as a GPS nav system. Even as a 'moving map' it's pretty well useless unless you're zoomed into about 300 yards. Even though this app was a freebie included with Trips and Streets 2005 (which is a VERY nice, capable app.), it's still maddening that Microsoft would allow such a eggregiously lame program to be released. If it were possible to give this program negative stars AND charge Microsoft with a crime, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
