Product Description

Johnny Knoxville (Jackass: The Movie, Walking Tall) shows off star power in his firstleading role as the hard-drinking, motorcycle-riding rock 'n' roll manager Phil Kaufman. When legendary singer Gram Parsons dies, Kaufman steals the body to keep his promise to make Joshua Tree Gram's final resting place. Chased by the cops, Gram's father and Gram's psycho ex-girlfriend, Betty (Christina Applegate), Kaufman embarks on a darkly comic adventure deep into the desert. Based on a truestory, this reckless road movie exceeds all limits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not historically accurate, but who cares?, May 31, 2005
Usually, I am a stickler for historical authenticity in movies. In this case, however, I am willing to make an exception. Perhaps that's because the real Phil Kaufman (the guy who really stole Gram Parsons' body) was involved in the making of this movie. As a result, the spirit of this story is kept whole and intact. Yes, a few characters and a couple of incidents are products of the screenwriter's "Hollywoodized" imagination. However, this movie is so much fun (a true buddy/road movie!) that such is forgivable this time out! Not only funny, but fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's class , September 3, 2004
By sam (Scotland) - See all my reviews
Within this slightly amateurish movie is a cult classic screaming to get out. I was surprised it was made so recently as it already has the feel of a 1970's drug fuelled indulgent escapade.

The story is the journey, and yet despite this there is a sufficient denouement for it to not just fizzle out at the end; it's climax is touching rather than moving.

I imagine this film will be rediscovered one day, and I hope that time will be kind to it. There are some genuinely original and funny moments - quite Coen brothersesque at times. In fact, this film reminded me of The Big Lebowski in many ways, and this takes me back to my original point of it feeling like a better movie wanting to get out. See what you think...

1.0 out of 5 stars One of the worst, most needlessly inaccurate - EVER., June 22, 2006
By A. White (Denton, TX) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The original story is so grand and rich - WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO TAKE LIBERTIES WITH IT?
This is seriously one of the worst movies I've ever seen, subject matter aside. The details are useslessly misarranged and the cast performance is simply garbage. Garbage.
Don't bother. Don't buy.
From a non-fan's p.o.v., there's nothing interesting about it, aside from the fact that you know it's BASED on a true story. If you can get past the vomit-inducing laziness of the production go read the real story and you will ask yourself "why didn't they just directly shoot from this?"
