For sailors, surfers, hang-gliders, or kite-fliers, this nifty gadget is a must-have for keeping tabs on current wind conditions. The tiny handheld anemometer comes in a sporty, yellow, plastic, weather-resistant casing, making it ideal for use during water activities or rainy weather. About 5 seconds after powering up, the anemometer reports the current wind speed in either miles per hour, kilometers per hour, meters per second, or Knots plus, displays wind speed on a Beaufort Scale bar graph. The module also records the maximum and average wind speeds for any 2- to 10-second period of time, and recalls them at the user’s prompting. This anemometer also measures current temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius and wind chill. The LCD screen has a backlight, making the display easy to read even in low-light conditions. The display automatically turns off every 8 seconds in order to preserve the life of the 3-volt lithium cell battery. I'm not sure how accurate this wind guage is, but since I work on a touring boat this is really nice to have a neck strap to hang from my neck for a fast read. Along with all the info it gives for wind speed and wind chill. Several people have seen mine and think they would make great gifts for those weather enthusiasts.

Its a good quality wind meter with a good price. I also like it because its more compact than other more expensive units and it seems more sensitive too. It does not have a protective cover tough, so keep it away from dirt and sand when not in use. Great for kitesurfing.

Bought this for my sailboat and it works really well, unfortunately the one i got had a dead battery in it and wasnt easy to find a replacement.

However it works great, has an adjustable lanyard so you can wear it without losing it. Very light and compact, fits in a shirt pocket.
