4.0 out of 5 stars My name... Jose de bellhop, October 9, 2008
By Annie Van Auken (Planet Earth) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Danny Thomas sitcom spinoff, THE BILL DANA SHOW ran from 9/22/63 to 1/17/65 on the NBC-TV network. In it, Dana's famous Mexican immigrant character Jose Jimenez is a bellhop in NYC's Park Central Hotel. He has a single room and also eats in the hotel. At the end of season #1 Jose resigned his job yet still returned the following September for another 15 episodes.

Regular cast members included Jonathan Harris (Dr. Zachary Smith of "Lost in Space") as Mr. Phillips the hotel manager, Gary Crosby (Bing's son) as a bellhop and Don Adams (Maxwell Smart on "Get Smart") as Glick the house detective. Episodes were directed by Sidney Sheldon, creator of "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Gilligan's Island."

The six-chapter BILL DANA SHOW DVD (Corinth Films) may be purchased through private dealers. Individual editions of MADACY's 3-episode Dana VHS tape series also occasionally come up for sale. As of 10/08, Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Vol. 3, Vol. 5, Vol. 6, Vol. 7, Vol. 8, Vol. 9 and Vol. 10 were all available in limited supply.

Program data includes original airdates and guest stars.

Blood From Two Turnips (9/20/64) - Grace Albertson/Charles Lane/Yvonne Fedderson

Jose On The Ledge (11/1/64) - Sandra Gould/Martin Lewis/Victoria Vetri/Andrew Duncan

What Elephant? (10/18/64) - Cliff Norton/Maggie Peterson/Jack Searl/Richard Carlyle
