Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Discover the joy of movement and the beauty of dance with the second program in this series by Instructor Melissa Lowe. Melissa introduces two new workouts that will help you strengthen your muscles, get rid of cellulite, reshape, condition and tone your body. This workout will not only help you create the body you have always wanted, but will also help you gain an overall sense of well being. Previous ballet experience is helpful but not necessary. Success on both workouts lies in performing the exercises in the correct position and with the correct posture. Melissa Lowe received early training at the School of American Ballet and American Ballet Theatre where she was an apprentice to the company. She danced professionally with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, the Houston Ballet as a soloist and the Pacific Northwest Ballet as a principal dancer. She is currently a Professor of Ballet and the Director of Early Movement Education at the University of Arizona.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the Ballet Workout!, April 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Ballet Workout 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Melissa Lowe tops herself with this sequel workout tape which emphasises several major exercises, and all of the positions. However, this tape also has a downfall, Ms. Lowe doesn't explain the steps as well as she did in the first video. But, if you are wanting to start ballet or need a guide to practice at home, I recommend her to everyone!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good follow-up to the first Ballet Workout, December 3, 2001

This review is from: Ballet Workout 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you don't have any ballet training, this video probably isn't for you. If you do, though, it's a good follow-up to the first Ballet Workout. The exercises are a little more elaborate and faster-paced -- also more engaging -- than in the Workout I. There is more emphasis on balance, and a greater variety of steps. M. Lowe does not explain or demonstrate the exercises in advance, which is what would make this tape frustrating for a beginner. (But it would get pretty boring listening to her explain them every single time you ran through the tape, which is why I think she leaves out the explanations. The first few times through, I just watched each exercise and then rewound.) The pink and blue leotards are indeed headache-inducing, as someone else commented. Overall, though, it's a good ballet class for intermediate or advanced dancers, with a good model to follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Melissa does a great job teaching beginners to advanced., October 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Ballet Workout 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I love the fact that she has people facing forward and backward, giving you the ease to follow along. Having taken minimal ballet I find it easy to follow, yet very challenging with an overall body work out.
