Biography

New Orleans-based rapper Juvenile is one of the best-known exponents of bounce, a much-criticised sub-genre of Southern hip-hop. His best known song is “Slow Motion” featuring Soulja Slim, which topped the Hot 100 in 2004.

Juvenile released Being Myself (1995), and Solja Rags (1997), which featured an unknown guest rapper called Lil’ Wayne, on smaller independent labels to gather some local buzz.… Read more in Amazon's Juvenile Store

About the Artist

From the early 90’s as a member of 3Grand and the release of an underground solo project, to his signing with the infamous (then underground) label Cash Money Records as a member of The Hot Boys (along with group members B.G., Lil Wayne and Turk), Juvenile’s role as a pioneering southern rapper cannot be underestimated. The fact that he has helped New Orleans claim major prominence in hip-hop history cannot be overlooked! Born Terius Gray, the rapper known as Juvenile first came to national prominence with The Hot Boys 1997 debut Get It How U Live, followed by 1999’s platinum certified, Guerilla Warfare and 2003’s Let ‘Em Burn. But it has been his solo performances - most notably, his third CD, 1998’s 4x platinum 400 Degreez, which spawned the hits, "Ha" and "Back That Thang Up" -- that catapulted Juve to mega-star status. Juve has also garnered many awards and accolades including a Soul Train Award (2000), Billboard Award (1999), Source Award (1999) and an American Music Award nomination (1999).

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth it, July 24, 2005
By ctrx ('bout to show you how the EAST COAST rocks...) - See all my reviews

Juve's never really had much to say, like the rest of the Cash Money Billionaires, but that's not what they're known for. They're really known for the great club tracks with production by Mannie Fresh and their chemistry with each other. This is probably the best Juvenile release to buy, because except for 400 Degreez, his albums have always been spread pretty thin. It has all his classic songs, like "Back That A*z Up" and "I Got That Fire" and also has his newer and collaborative songs like "Bounce Back" and "Slow Motion". People should just buy this instead of spending their money on all the Juve albums, because most of his songs worth listening to can be found here.

5.0 out of 5 stars JUVENILE GREATEST HITS, November 13, 2004
By Ebony Parks "Jane" (LaGrange North Carolina) - See all my reviews
I think this cd is worth buying. Because,of all Juvenile songs he release in his career are on the cd. If you enjoy the southern rap music. Then, this is the one for you. The cd will not be disappointing nor surprising because you already heard most of his songs. If you are really are a big fan like me. Buy It! You will never put the cd down. Infact, You probably repeat the cd 5 times because its so good! Buy it! the cd is worth the money!
