Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Rotersand is the brainchild of Rasc (The Fair Sex), and Gun (multi-instrumentalist and producer), who came together to create an artistic expression of the sound of music. Their import only EP, "Merging Oceans", was released earlier this year and created a sensation not only on the German DAC charts, but also in the clubs stateside. Due to the success of the EP along with enthusiastic press reactions and continuous club play, Rotersand brought to life their debut, "Truth Is Fanatic". A synthesis of 80's, synthpop, electro, and techno, this release is a harmonious fusion of driving rhythms, rolling bass-lines, rousing melodies, hard electronic beats, and warm melancholic atmospheres. An authentic musical mixture, which corresponds perfectly with the spirit of the time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Professionally Made Modern EBM, June 2, 2005
By SandmanVI (Glen Allen, VA United States) - See all my reviews
Rasc and Gun are such long-time veterans of the EBM / elektro scene that they probably couldn't make a weak dance track without a very focused effort to do so. In that sense they are similar to Icon of Coil's whose headman has been around for eons. The knock on them, also similar to IOC, is that the lyrics can be subpar at times. The vocals are standard futurpop fare, sneering but undistorted. However there are some moments on here that are truly inspired and there are very few total duds.

The band does something rare nowadays, which is lead off with a strong track. The title track comes on slowly as if it will be the customary instrumental opener but kicks in with full-on EBM force. "Almost Violent" is another slammer. "Electronic World Transmission" is one of the singles and it's OK, but the [:SITD:] remix near the disc's end is an absolute killer... 100% improvement over the regular version. BTW [:SITD:] are a great up & coming dark elektro band. The other single, and it will be obvious, is the epic futurepop smash "Merging Oceans" with its skittering VNV-style synths and vaguely ominous lyrics. "Lifelight" is another strong effort but also one improved by its hard trance-like remix.

All told, you get your money's worth of dance hits and songs you can sing along with. Deep-fried adrenaline junkfood for the club, your iPod or your car.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good choice for early Covenant fans, November 7, 2006
By T. Pranger "rivet punk" (Sacramento, CA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
For the most part this album has a sound similar to Covenant (pre Northern Lights). A couple of the tracks (One Level Down and Hush) remind me of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb. An enjoyable album with two high energy remixes.
