Biography

Philadelphia's synth-infused, peppy rock act Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer began in 2000 and has centered around core members Vince Ratti (guitar, vocals) and Rachel Minton (vocals, keyboards). An early incarnation of the band had also included Anthony Green, who would later front post-hardcore bands Saosin and Circa Survive. The band's first self-titled album was released via Wonka Vision/Break… Read more in Amazon's Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer Store

5.0 out of 5 stars PULL THE PIN AND THROW THE BOMB!!!!, January 11, 2006

(REAL NAME)
WHAT an exciting EP! zolof and the rock n roll destroyer is such an amazing band. they're easy to listen and be addicted to, so why are they still broke?

i remember buying a belt from them, and one of the band members was like "ha thanx that'll buy my breakfast!" i hope he was kidding, because i really want this band to continue making awesome music!

zolof has developed from indie rock in their fisrt album to this new fast rockin' sound. the songs are a bit short, but nothing you'll regret buying. however, i'd only buy it if i had an ipod or something, because it's a hug pain to change cd after 15 minutes of music.

if you're still not sure if u'd wanna spend so much money for a 5 song cd, check out their myspace:

http://www.myspace.com/zoloftherockandrolldestroyer

most of the band members has a myspace i think.

omg check out their video and how ADORABLE they are!!

enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A bit different from Jalopy, but it rocks!, August 16, 2005
By Erik (St. Louis, MO) - See all my reviews
I recently saw this group live in concert with Reel Big Fish, and I must say, I loved them. I would describe them as a power pop / rock group. Rachel, the vocalist, is female, and she also plays keyboard, which will have you hooked the moment you hear it in conjunction with the guitars and drums rocking out. The guitarist also lends his vocals into some of the songs as well. Now, onto the EP...

Two songs on this cd "Argh, I'm a pirate" and "Crazy = cute" sound just like the stuff you'll be listening to on their Jalopy Go Far cd (which I love). However, the other tracks are a bit more straightforward, and/or have a slightly more serious tone to them. (i.e. - "This was all a bad idea" sounds more like a regular punk rock song, there's a slower pace/less keyboard in the other two songs) Some people may like this, some may hate it. Personally I thought the change in sound was great. Diversity in sound is a GOOD thing!

So give this one a listen.... especially if you've seen Zolof live, 'cuz they often play "Argh, I'm a pirate!" and "This was all a bad idea" !

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm the first to review this? Damn. It's perfect., March 22, 2005
I discovered Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer while looking for good local Philly-area bands after moving here a few months back. And what a find.

This band embodies everything that is RIGHT about "pop music." Every hook, every beat, every riff, every new wave synth part... it's just totally perfect.

Their full-length, Jalopy Go Far, is a force to be reckoned with, for sure.... but this EP... good god, this should have been a full-length because it is just TOO GOOD! It's TOO SHORT! I have to listen to this 50 times before I can stop it. It's THAT GOOD.

Zolof blows away A LOT of bands, and I am a really open-minded music fan. This band makes me want to sell my entire punk and alternative CD collection because most bands in the genre just disappoint me after listening to this EP on endless repeat.

Zolof is right up there with The Shins, The Living End, The Go-Gos, Antarctica, The Rentals and Weezer... bands which are amazingly talented songwriters, and living legends... Zolof deserve to be mentioned among these legendary bands whenever they are brought up in conversation. I'm completely serious. I sound insane, but hey... I'm their number one fan, without a doubt. I just wish I discovered them years ago!

I have never loved a local band with as much genuine respect and fervor as I do Zolof The Rock And Roll Destroyer.

Thank you all for simply existing, and writing this music.

Pick this up now if you love sing-along poppy indie stuff. Classic.
