Front-panel audio/video inputs accommodate camcorder and gaming hookups, while JPEG picture CD playback lets you watch slideshows of your digital photos. The unit's compatibility with recordable DVDs (DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW) makes it a cinch to copy your homemade discs to tape. The combo unit even lets you watch a DVD or listen to a CD while recording a TV show, and you can always take advantage of EZ Play, which bypasses DVD menus to take you right to the start of your movies.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DV2140's DVD section stands ready to deliver the full potential of your commercial DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Even without an HD-ready set, the component-video outputs can be set to output interlaced video, in which they help minimize line scan and digital artifacts on compatible televisions.

Composite- and S-video outputs bring DVD compatibility with nearly any television, and this unit makes hookup with older sets even easier by passing both DVD and VHS video and audio signals through its coaxial RF output--perfect for use with older TVs lacking separate audio and video inputs.

In the audio realm, 2 sets of left/right RCA analog-audio outputs (1 each for the DVD player and the VCR) channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. For enveloping home-theater audio from DVDs, both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's coaxial digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. If you don't have a surround receiver or 6-channel speaker setup, you can still make every movie night the ultimate experience: 3D Surround simulates surround sound through 2 speakers (even the stereo speakers on your TV).

This model's 4-head VCR design ensures smooth slow-motion play (forward and reverse) and clear still-frame images, while hi-fi sound records and plays back stereo audio tracks. If you route the stereo output to an AV receiver, you can even enjoy four-channel (left, center, right, and monaural surround) Dolby Pro Logic mixes from TV and Dolby-encoded videocassettes. Convenient features include 8-event, 1-year programming, and auto clock and channel set.

I would stay away from this company. I live in AZ and would like to support them but...I bought this unit and it stopped playing DVD's after a couple weeks. They are not returning my emails and their phone maze is unacceptable.

DVD only plays 1/2 of my rented DVD's, the rest get a "DISC ERROR". I've only used it around 6 times. It's out of warranty, so I'm stuck. I should have used it more right away.

I purchased this GO Video unit specifically to play DVD recorded in the DVD+R and DVD+RW formats. The Amazon.com technical information states that this item is capable of playing these formats. However, the owners manual that comes with the machine only lists the DVD-R/RW formats and even then states that some of those may not play.
As it turns out, I was unable to confirm even these capabilities as the DVD player would not even play any of several commercial DVDs without locking up with a frozen display that no button on the remote or on the face of the unit could affect. Only turning off the power and restarting would allow some control to be restored.
I have returned the unit as unsuitable for my needs.
