Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Get ready for total freedom with the Jabra BT800, an advanced Bluetooth headset with the features lots of folks have been waiting for. With the BT800, your phone actually becomes the accessory, as the headset lets you control virtually every major function of your phone. With simple controls, a built-in LCD display, and powerful sound clarity and noise reduction technology, this is a must-have for Bluetooth-enabled phones.

No matter how fancy or powerful a headset may be, it's not all that useful if it isn't comfortable. Fortunately, the BT800 has comfort covered. The ergonomic earhook makes for easy wearing on either ear, while the unit is stylishly contoured to ensure a comfortable and secure fit.

All the functions you use most often on your phone are conveniently available on the BT 800. Using just four controls-- the mute button, jog wheel, 'Answer' and 'End' buttons-- accessing the functionality you need is easy and natural. For example, the jog wheel, which is used for scrolling through menu functions in standby mode, becomes the volume control during a call. Meanwhile, a blue backlit display shows caller ID on incoming calls so you know who's calling instantaneously-- no need to fish through your pocket and look at your phone. Plus, you can use the display to choose from five included ringtones, or even set the headset to vibrate when a call arrives.

The BT800 offers optimum sound quality in all environments, thanks to unique digital signal processing technology (DSP). The DSP's automatic volume control compensates for noisy surroundings by increasing the listening level accordingly. In addition, noise cancellation technology means that the incoming caller can hear you more clearly.

NOTE: The BT800 is designed to work optimally with devices that support the Bluetooth Handsfree profile. Some features such as the Caller ID will not be possible if this profile is not supported. Please check with your phone manufacturer for details of profiles supported.

What's in the Box
BT800 Bluetooth headset, AC power adaptor, USB cable, reset code (for Bluetooth pairing), user's manual.

Product Description

With the BT800 your phone becomes the accessory! Your mobile phone’s functions and operations are simply mirrored on the headset, giving you an immediate feeling of familiarity. It’s innovative, yet intuitively simple to use.

2.0 out of 5 stars Overhyped and undertested, March 22, 2005
This is one of those products where the anticipation is better than the ownership. The BT800 "Borg implant" seemed like a good headset based on the available on-line literature, but it doesn't measure up in practice.

Design: B-, an oversized, overly complicated device. Has *6* different buttons for the various functions, e.g. "answer" and "end call" are unnecessarily two different buttons. 2-line LCD screen with caller ID is great, though, and makes pairing and setup a snap. USB charging a plus.

Aesthetics: C, it's all function, no form, but not a total eyesore.

Build quality: D+, materials are cheap and construction is very flimsy; outer "jog wheel" can easily break off. Buttons are rubbery and lack tactile feedback.

Comfort: F, the most uncomfortable headset ever! The heavy weight and poor ear clip shape make this headset painful to wear. The overly-articulated ear clip and large size make for an impossibly floppy fit.

Compatibility: A, no problems pairing or using this headset. Full handsfree functionality is available, if difficult to learn and use. Caller ID works flawlessly.

Outbound sound quality: B-, callers can hear me OK, but onboard DSP can sometimes make the voice very "choppy" to the caller, especially in noisier environments. Noise cancellation is fair.

Inbound sound quality: C+, volume is barely adequate, likely due to the poor fitment of the device. Inbound voices are muddy. Minimal static, however.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great features, nice sound....not so good of a microphone, September 7, 2005
By Jef Mehr (Minneapolis MN) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As a purchaser for a corporation I have used numerous different bluetooth headsets out there "testing" them for our executives or getting them back with complaints from executives. This is one of those headsets that "makes the cut" for our guys. The sound quality of the person you are speaking to is fantastic, you can understand every word they say. The features on it (particularly the dialing features with the headset and the caller id) are great. It feels comfortable on your ear (even though it weighs a little more than some out there)...everything about it is fantastic except the microphone and the range. Range on this headset is about 10 feet...after that you lose the signal. The microphone makes you sound very digital. People had trouble understanding me at times and none of my voice-dials worked with this headset.

Overall, it is a good headset regardless of the problems...but for pure functionality I would suggest the logitech freedom headset, it has a better microphone and speaker and far better range (up to 30-40 feet).

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this product!, July 25, 2006
By Mark Criasia (Milford, MA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Purchased new in 2005, this headset worked fairly well for 11 months. After a factory software upgrade, the blue-tooth signal began to degrade. After a couple of weeks, the signal was so poor the headset had to be returned under warranty. The warranty turn-around time was 2 weeks. Jabra replaced the headset with a new one in March of 2006. The new headset seemed to lose the blue tooth signal every 10 or 15 calls, even with the cellphone right next to the headset. In July the display stopped working. I asked Jabra to replace the headset under warranty because I received the replacement only 4 months prior. They refused. 1 Week later, the headset stopped working completely. I would not recommend this product (or this company) based on their product line and service.
