An above average game, July 2, 2005
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Well I won't say that the load times are short because they aren't as you all know from reading every other review. They are the longest of any PSP game. But the game is very good. Frame rates aren't the greatest while racing but very good while just 'cruising' the city. The races are easier to win than NFS:Rivals and that makes this the BETTER game. NFS makes it almost impossible to win races as they get harder. NFS AI makes almost no mistakes which is not realistic as nobody is perfect. This game is a whole lot of fun. The first city, "San Diego" has loads and loads of streets. The city isn't exactly like the real San Diego but many things are there like Petco park, Convention center and railed vehicles and the rollercoaster at Mission Bay. San Diego is my favorite city in the US!
I highly recommend this game even at the higher cost of $50. Many hours of programming went into the game at Rockstar which you have to give them credit for the long hours the workers had to endure to create this game. Rockstar- You Rock! Thanks for keeping us intertained!

Awesome Game!!, July 16, 2005
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Midnight Club 3 is an awesome game. The partnership with DUB Magazine made the game a lot better. You can customize pretty much any part on the car, from the lisense plates and window tint colors, to the trim and NOS color. And with almost every upgrade, you can choose a custom color for it (window tints, neon colors, exhast color, etc).
Now I own Need For Speed Rivals and Midnight Club 3. And I have also rented Ridge Racers for a month at gamefly.com.
Now with Ridge Racers, nothing could be customized, except for the car color. And the races were really boring, you always started in last. The turning was kind of weird because you didn't turn, you slid. And there was no real music, just like intense elevator music. With the other two, you get actual songs to listen to while you race. This game isn't worth the $40, but might be worth the $20 to some people, to get a used copy, at gamefly.com.
Need For Speed Rivals is a pretty good game. Most things are customizable, but you had to choose from their colors, and almost everything was locked. With Midnight Club 3, almost everything was unlocked, you just can't afford everything yet. Need For Speed Rivals did have more race types, but you couldn't free-roam like on the PS2 version (Neeed For Speed Underground 2) or like on Mignight Club. Need For Speed Rivals was a great game at the PSP Launch, but now I give it about 3.5/5, after seeing Mignight Club 3. I guess Need For Speed Rivals is worth the $40, but go for midnight club if you can.
Now Midnight Club 3 for the PSP is awesome! I rented the PS2 version on gamefly.com for about a month, and both are almost identical. I have noticed only two major differences:
1. Slower loader times! It could take about 45 seconds to load the garage, or about a minute to load the free-roam mode, or a race. But it's still worth it, because you can go anywhere in the city, and check out any part in the garage.
2. Controls are pretty different from the PS2 version. Some features are on different buttons, but you get used to them in about 5-15 minutes.
Out of these three PSP racing games I say that Midnight Club 3 is a winner. It's definately worth the $50 (or $40 on eBay). If you don't believe me, maybe you should rent it at gamefly.com.

A Kid's Review
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This game is so sweet. The only problem is those long long loading screens. I bought a faster laser upgrade for my psp and my loading time went down from 37.6 secs to 2.5 . Now granded the upgrade cost me $75.00 but is was well worth it. This game is pretty fun but some of the opponents are really hard and thats what I like about racing games and other games. its no fun if you can always win at a game. U have to loose every once in a while to keep the game entertaining and trust me, you will loose quite a bit. The selection of cars a wide variety from the big and bulky Hummer and escalade, to the Lamborghini, Ferrarie, and diablo, to the choppers and Ducati Sportbikes and finally the muscle and tuner cars. A few names that are familiar for the cars are the nissan skyline gtr-v spec, dodge neon str4, mitsubishi eclipse, nissan 350Z, '68 dodge charger, Hummer, Escalade, Ducati 04 monster sport bike, Diablo choppers, Lanborghini Murcialogo(Sorry for mispelling), Ferrarie, and elise lotus, (My altime fave car on it till I unlock the skyline on it) and the mclarine f-150 just to name a few. So as you can tell by reading this game has a lot of cars to choose from. You can customize close to everything on your car. You can custom anything from the lisence plate, mudflapps, chopp tops, side skirts, front and back bumper, muffler tips, lights, neons, hydro's, and a bunch more again just to name a few. But the one thing that slows the game from a 100% out of me is those load times but I upgraded so I have no problems with em. I upgraded the second I got it cuzz I rented it for one day and the loading times got old. Well I have once again wrote too much so peace out.
