Tai Chi For Expecting Mothers is excellent!:). . . I will definitely recommend it to my future patients!

Product Description
TaiChiBaby.com proudly releases this new Tai Chi DVD for pregnancy. Tai Chi, popular in Europe and Asia, is gaining U.S. media attention as a beneficial exercise alternative to yoga and pilates. Tai chi is non-impact, slow moving and done while standing making it safe and gentle enough for women who have never exercised and pregnant women in all trimesters.

Tai Chi exercise has been clinically proven to counter balance some of the common side effects of pregnancy. It checks excessive weight gain, relieves back pain, reduces swelling in the hands and feet, and prevents high blood pressure. Most significantly, it reduces the incident of falling down, a very common and dangerous pregnancy problem.

Pregnant women who practice Tai Chi report feeling stronger, more energized, and less stressed about the many changes in lifestyle brought about by pregnancy.

The DVD contains a complete whole body work-out combining Tai Chi, self massage and deep breathing meditation techniques to strengthen and relax the body while calming the mind to reduce feelings of stress.

It is one of the highest quality independently produced pregnancy fitness DVDs released to date. It features: beautiful Feng Shui set designs; original Zen style music written for Tai Chi practice; three different camera angles and close ups for the best view possible; and a well studied, experienced instructor to assure you get an authentic foundation in your practice.

Additional highlights include:

A convenient option for turning the voice over instruction on or off;

Visual options for exercising with the assistance of a chair if needed;

A complete outline of safe conditions for practice with visual instructional diagrams; and

A special bonus features menu which includes a documentary about the history & philosophy of Tai Chi, the benefits of acupuncture for morning sickness, and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Wow! Wow! Brand new to Tai Chi and Surprised!, June 11, 2005
I've never tried Tai Chi before, but I do adore yoga! I read that tai chi can actually help rebuild bone density and started checking into before I became pregnant, but never got a video. I'm looking for some variety in my pregnancy workouts and figured I'd go ahead and take the plunge and buy this DVD. I got some money for my birthday, so I just looked at it as a gift.

My goodness, was I surprised! I watched the DVD first and then set it aside for about a week, thinking it's more for relaxation and that was that. Today I've walked 3 miles and in a lot of pain from it! I'm also 7 1/2 months pregnant and it's hot outside! So the kids went to bed early and the husband was taking care of stuff outside and I saw the DVD, decided it'd be a good way to wind down, put it in and eagerly waited to begin.

About 1/4 of the way through it, I noticed my heartrate was actually up and I was developing a light sweat! Could this be possible? It is! I used to run and do lots of aerobics and I knew what a "light sweat" was like after doing yoga, but this "light sweat" was different. I know it must sound insane, but I could actually feel as though toxins and bad things were leaving my body! I couldn't wait to get a drink of water afterwards! I immediately drank (no joke) 1 liter of water (I have the aquafina bottle right here to double check that amount) and feel not only as though I've exercised and done something good for my body and baby, but I actually feel "cleaner."

I will definitely be checking into Tai Chi after this baby arrives! I highly recommend giving this product a try!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful workout for expectant moms!!!, February 7, 2006

(REAL NAME)
I had never tried Tai chi before and decided to give this DVD a shot. I purchased it prior to finding out I was pregnant in hopes of gaining some relaxation and connecting with myself. I was very surprised that not only did I enjoy it, but I found it relaxing and was actually a little sore the next day. I didn't think Tai chi would be a workout but my legs thought otherwise!!!
The instructor is easy to follow and very knowlegdable about the subject. There is even a question and answer section included.
I highly recommend this DVD to anyone looking for that extra connection to themselves and their baby!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great way to relax and focus, August 10, 2005
I got this DVD based on the reviews listed. I didn't have an exercise regimine before getting pregnant but I knew I wanted to be doing something and that Tai Chi would be a good place to start. The commentary is easy to follow and it takes about 40 minutes to do the whole set of exercises. While people who have done aerobics or other strenuous activity may find it too slow, I find it is a good workout for my muscles and has helped me focus on my breathing. Each time I finish I feel so much better and ready to take on the day.
