Product Description

Product Description

Bomberman DS takes advantage of the unique features of Nintendo's dual-screen handheld console. The intense battle action takes place on both screens of the console for a wider view of the game, with players able to access and use the menu via the Touch Screen function. Leading battles by voice input will be easy with the Nintendo DSTM voice recognition system and microphone: just 'SHOUT' and win your battle! Gamers can also choose between the 'standard' single-player mode and 'battle' mode where up to 8 people compete against each other via the wireless LAN feature.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great classic is updated with multiplayer, August 20, 2005
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Bomberman was always a basic arcade style game. The DS adds new life into it by allowing a single card to host up to 8 players in multiplaying fun.

First, the single player mode. Think of this as sort of a combination of pac-man and dig-dug. You move through a 2-D world, blowing up blocks, slaying enemies, looking for power-ups and a way out. The map randomly generates each time, so your strategic skills need to be sharp. It's great fun in the classic puzzler sense.

Where the game really shines, though, is in multi-player. Your friends don't have to all go out and buy copies of their own - they can simply play on your one card. There are a variety of fun games to play, and some of them use the microphone. Even if you're killed off early in a game, there are still ways for you to interact until the game is over.

The graphics are on the basic side, but that's fine. This is after all a classic game, and you are paying more attention to the combinations of actions you have to perform than to the stellar depictions of rocks :)

The sounds are pretty basic, but again this is an arcade game. You're not playing it for symphonic stereo glory. The sounds are good enough to keep you involved as you blow up rocks and avoid enemies.

Well recommended for any Bomberman fan, and any fan of puzzles. This isn't a long term epic. It's a short, fun game that is different each time you play it - and is oodles of fun with friends!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Bomberman and DS game!, June 21, 2005

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
The game goes back to Bomberman's roots with 2D levels and a new feature that allows you to store your power-ups and use them later. But the game is more focused on the multiplayer mode,I'll state the facts

-2 to 8 players using only one game card!

-Over 100 stages to battle in,each one spanning over both screens

-Over 30 multiplayer modes! (some taking advantage of the DS's microphone and others letting players race aginst each other to the finish line

-Be a part of the battle even after you die by throwing bombs into the playing field

So as you can see, this is definatly one of the best games that the DS has to offer and shouldn't be missed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Multi-player is great, single player is horrible, November 7, 2006
By J. Aue (Ennis, TX) - See all my reviews

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Featuring old school gameplay, this is yet another version of Bomberman. The best feature of this game is it's wireless multi-player. Up to 8 players can play off of a single card. Every game mode and stage is accessable, and if you don't have others to play with, you can add CPU players to compete with. The worst part of this game is the entire single player mode. It's very repetitive, very short, and just not the same as trying to blow up an actual person.
