From the supplier: John Rawls has published 'Political Liberalism,' which develops a political analysis of justice in contrast to the moral focus of his earlier 'Theory of Justice.' Rawls attempts to account for pluralism in his new work by presenting it as an achievement of liberal political institutions designed to attain an overlapping consensus. However, the reasons Rawls gives for rejecting perfectionism as a principle of public reason are inadequate. Furthermore, a political system operating according to his scheme would be limited to maintaining the status quo.
