From the supplier: The history of Bohemian mineral collecting began with Georgius Agricola, a physician who settled in the mining town of St. Joachimsthal between 1527 and 1533. By the late 18th century, mineral collecting was entrenched in the aristocracy. Prominent mineral collectors included Prince Klemenz von Metternich-Winneburg, whose collection is preserved at the Narodni Museum, and Count Joachim von Sternberg (1755-1808) whose collection later helped to found the National Museum in Prague, the Czech Republic.
