After the great success of Riedel's jet-black Sommeliers Blind-Blind Tasting glass, the company has come out with a number of black tasting glasses in the top-shelf Sommeliers collection but with the popular O tumbler form. The opaque black glass hides not only the color of the wine (many oenophiles can't tell a white from a red when the color is not apparent), but the clarity, sediment, and depth of the wine, forming a double-blind test. However, these new black tumblers also make a bold contemporary statement and work fabulously for casual yet appreciative wine drinking. And, the stemless design means breakage is kept to a minimum.

True to the Riedel philosophy of shaping and sizing a glass to suit a particular wine, this black tumbler is designed especially to enhance reds such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The glass is hand-blown of 24 percent lead crystal, holds 21-1/8 ounces at full capacity, and comes packaged in a handsome gift tube. The Riedel glasses are amonng the best, and these are just like the regular O tumblers. The only issue is that if you wash them with any vigor at all, you run the risk of the glass shattering in your hands ... not a big deal because you should really only wash the rims to remove lip marks and rinse the glass...
