From the supplier: The number of women serving in the International Olympics Committee (IOC) has grown slowly since its creation in 1894. As of 1996, its membership consists of 99 men and seven women. The women who have been serving in the IOC since 1981 have proven themselves to be competent and deserving of their positions. The present trend is to make more leadership positions available to women and to allow more females to participate in sporting events.
