The Panasonic SL-SX451C personal CD player comes with everything you need to listen to music through your car's built-in cassette stereo. Outfitted with a power adapter that plugs into your cigarette lighter and a cassette adapter for the deck itself--along with a pair of stereo headphones for non-vehicle use--the car kit is a good option for people who own older car stereos and don't want to upgrade to more-expensive units. As a further enticement, the CD player isn't restricted to CDs only, as it also plays MP3s burned onto a CD-R/RW disc. The expanded playback options give listeners access to far more of their digital music libraries, while also cutting down on the number of CDs they need to bring along during road trips (the average CD-R holds 10 hours of MP3 music).

Audio-wise, the CD player boasts digital MP3 remastering, which restores most of the fidelity that's lost during the MP3 compression process. The resulting sound is richer and deeper, without the shallow, tinny tones so common to unaltered MP3 songs. The sound is further enriched by the player's S-XBS and S-XBS+ bass boost equalizer settings, along with the Live setting, which delivers concert-hall-like audio. Very pleased with this item. It seems to eat up batteries but since I got it to plug into my truck this isn't too much of a concern. I find the sound is good (of course that relies a lot on my speakers) and I think it is very good value for the price.
