Media Buddy allows you to offload pictures from your filled digital camera memory cards, rapidly and easily without lugging your laptop along. In testing, I moved 55 MByte (58 files) of JPEG files from an ordinary CF memory (not one of the fast 40x or 80x CF cards) in 1m38s. The user interface is very intuititive and not complex. Plugged into your PC via the USB 2.0 connection, it is both an external harddrive and also a memory card reader. If you do not 'trust' that your picture download happened correctly, just download again into a separate folder created by the Media Buddy, for data redundancy. Paying $300 to be able to see pictures on video LCD or TV seems a high premium for that capability, so I am happy even though the Media Buddy lacks that feature.

I recently ordered the Media Buddy & I love it! It's great for vacations . . . I no longer worry that I'll lose a camera card; I back up my digital photos every evening and am ready for the next day's adventures. Terrific.
