A Kid's Review
Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
I just got a PS2 for Christmas, and got this game with it. I havent played any game modes other than a regualar race yet, but I have logged many races on it so far. To start off I want to mention that before I got this game I read a review on it on here, and someone said that the controls were horrible, that you couldnt tap the directional arrows and go through the turne smooth, you had to hit it so hard to make it respond that the car would go left and right instead of strait and smooth. I played it and found that same problem and was quite vexxed about it. Then me and my brother did two players and I used my PS1 controller and lo and behold, you could tap it, and it goes smooth with the PS1. So, do not use the PS2 controller with this game. Now to rate the driving, I will divide it onto two parts, long tracks and short tracks. The short tracks are fun to race on, and I dont really have a problem with them; the long tracks on the other hand, you better be careful. I rated the game four stars because it is fun, and I havent really had it for over a month, so I cant bash it, but when I am racing at Daytona, I hate it. While you are going down the strait aways, you constantly have to adjust, and then in the turns, you hit the wall alot. And dont try to bump draft, you will spin out the guy in front of you. And if you so much as touch a guy, chances are you will both go into the wall, or if you dont, thanks to the new friend and foe feature, he will hunt you like a Thanksgiving turkey. So these are my complaints. I am a NASCAR fan. I watch it every sunday the Bears dont play on, and love it. I enjoy playing the games too. But, if any EA Sports people read this for ideas, the gsmes are too realistic. Game makers are trying to give people playing them the same experiance as the pros. In real NASCAR if you bump someone, you go into the wall. If you make a sudden turn, you get loose. But remember something, they are the pros, not us. They make millions, not us. They have steering wheels, we, (most of us dont have PS steering wheels,) we have controllers with arrows on them that if you touch it, it adjusts. These games are TOO real. I have a computer game, NASCAR Heat, that is awsome. You can put it on realistic easy setting. I play it on easy because realistic is practically impossible. And one other thing I liked about this game, and the reason for the high score, is it doesnt worship Dale Jr. Dale Earnheart Sr was a good driver, Jr is just an average driver who wins on restrictor plate tracks because he has good engines because daddy gave him a ride. Jr isnt the worst driver, but he has never won a championship, and he isnt a real threat, and deffinitley isnt one of the tops drivers. Give the praise to Gordan, Stewert, Biffle, Kenseth, and Kurt Busch, he is a good driver, even though he is a jackass. Well, thus ends my review. Go Newman, and da Bears!
