About the Artist
In May 1999, Waterline released its first CD, Stranded, at a sellout concert in Wilmington, NC. Since 1996, the band had been touring east coast clubs and festivals, making the release a much anticipated and long overdue event. The event was also very bittersweet, as the band announced that due to family obligations, Chris Pappalardo, lead singer and guitarist, was moving out of state. In the upcoming years, demand from the bands fans, self-proclaimed Waterheads, did not waiver, so despite geographic distance, the group still maintained a steady, albeit much lighter touring schedule. Their loyal following continued to grow as Waterline performed at clubs, festivals and house concerts from the Carolinas to Cabo San Lucas. Also during this time, several music industry professionals started taking interest in Waterlines original music for a new recording. All signs were pointing toward a more permanent reunion. Fast forward nearly six years to the day, the group is now back together in North Carolina, armed with the upcoming release of Long Goners, the bands sophomore studio effort, and ready to once again spread its brand of Americana Beach Rock to its fans in the Carolinas and beyond. For Long Goners, Waterlines founding members, Chris Pappalardo and Jim Ellis, spent the last year working with two Grammy award winning producers , Tony Daigle (2003 Grammy award with B.B. King) and Steven Heller (2003 Grammy award with Doc Watson & David Holt). The team also enlisted the help of national recording artist, Sonny Landreth, and his band to make up the rhythm section for the record. Members of this power-packed trio have worked with Jimmy Buffett, Marc Knopfler and Shawn Colvin, and as a group, the band has backed up John Hiatt as The Goners since the late 1980s. What has resulted is a sound that can be categorized as adult contemporarybest described as a cross between Jackson Browne, Little Feat and Jimmy Buffett.
