Editorial Reviews

From the Artist

Twiztid have reached the apex of a two-album journey, and the horizon lies in sight. Their career path weaves a winding course through music's ruthless underground, and the pinnacle finds them here: Poised between the height of insight and the depth of depravity. Placed between life's greatest questions and toughest answers. Melding the minds of Madrox and Monoxide. Mixing up their O.G. sound with the newly found, and putting it all down. This isn't your mainstream attempt at fusion, rapping over the band. This is one album with two distinct styles, classic Twiztid rap tracks, alongside mosh-pit rock anthems.

It's Twiztid truly twisted, and this Mutant has a little of everything.

Product Description

Mutant (Vol. 2) is the next stage of a search begun in pursuit of Man's Myth (Vol. 1). It's the hybrid beast created when toxic thoughts meet the toughest talk. It's loud sounds and an even louder point of view. All the confusion and infusion that fuels the Myth comes to a head in the mind of Mutant. Some have covered these topics before, but never like this. with the first volume they used their heads, with Volume 2 they loose their souls. Twiztid have never held back the heart, but it's never been heard like this. This Mutant also knows how to Rock.

4.0 out of 5 stars Twiztid Goes Rock-N-Roll, October 19, 2005
Let me start this review by saying that "Hector," the reviewer below who calls Twiztid a "Hot Topic" band, is an idiot. But you probably already knew that if you attempted to read his incoherent babble. Anyway, let's move along with an honest assessment of Mutant (Vol. 2). This is a great album because it reaches areas that Twiztid haven't touched before. The rock music on this album is MUCH better than their attempts at rock on "Freekshow" and the maturity in their music radiates throughout most of the album.

In all honesty, I think that Man's Myth (Vol. 1) is a better album overall, but I probably only feel that way because I generally like the rap stuff more than the rock stuff. If I was a die-hard Zuggalo, I may feel differently. I like how this album rotates from track to track between rap and rock because it is still attempting to please fans that may not dig the whole Twiztid rock-n-roll gig. While this makes the album's flow a little rough at times, most of the songs are great when you look at them on an individual basis. So, let's do that...

1. The Transformation of A New Civilization - (D) - I always skip this track; it basically sucks. As far as I'm concerned, Mutant begins with Track 2.
2. Get Off Of Me! - (A-) - Great opening song, gets the listener pumped up. Some of the lyrics are a bit chessy, but it still rocks. They opened with this on the Man's Myth Tour and it was great concert song!
3. Stardust - (A+) - I LOVE this song. Great beat, creative lyrics and a catchy chorus. I like the message behind the song too.
4. Familiar - (B+) - This one took some time to grow on me. I hated it at first, but now I think it is a great experimental track. The chorus is definitely the highlight of the song... very catchy.
5. Madness - (A+) - Another awesome song!! This is the wicked shxt at its finest... Jaime RIPS his verse here, damn!!!
6. Fxck U Part 2 - (B-) - This is just a rock version of "Fxck U" Part 1 on Man's Myth. I actually like this one better than the original, but it's still just a filler track.
7. Jenny's A Fat Bxtch (Skit)
8. Fantasy - (B-) - Another decent sex song from Twiztid. This one is slightly more mature than previous efforts like "Old School Pervert" and "Fxck on the First Date," but not necessarily better.
9. Who Am I - (A) - This is a damn good tune... catchy, short & sweet. This is probably my favorite rock track on the album, with "Familiar" coming in at a close second.
10. The Truth Will Set You Free - (D) - I'm not even remotely feeling this track. It seems uninspired and boring. Just my opinion...
11. Respirator - (C) - Lots of juggalos seem to like this one, but I personally don't think that it is as good as some of the other rock tracks. Listenable, but not a favorite.
12. Thriple Threat (feat. Blaze) - (A-) - This is a great rap track with Blaze that has an old-school feel to it. Very upbeat and bumpin'. Good stuff!
13. Starve Your Fear - (C) - Similar to "Respirator," this is another average rock track.
14. Manikin (feat. Violent J) - (A-) - Chessy? Yes. Been done before? Yes. Still good? Yep. Violent J has a nice verse and this song is too funny to hate. It made me want to go rent that `80s movie "Mannequin"... boy was that a mistake.
15. Note 2 Self - (C) - Probably the weakest "last song" ever on a Twiztid album. Just another average rock tune, nothing special here.

In conclusion, I'd say that this is a strong album. I like the fact that they experimented with some rock music. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but you've gotta give Twiztid credit for keeping things new and interesting. If I were introducing someone to Twiztid for the first time, I'd tell them to buy Man's Myth over this, but for Twiztid veterans this is a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly "Twiztid" July of 2005, July 26, 2005
By John "Ira" (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
Wow, just wow. What kind of act will release two different albums with two different dvds in less than a month? Twiztid of course. While Man's Myth vol. 1 was a rap album Mutant vol. 2 is more rock than rap. With Jamie's voice which can be pretty good singing wise and Monoxide's raps which are at their best. This is easily the best rap album to have alot of guitars on it and a rock feel since Insane Clown Posse's " The amazing Jeckel Brothers" On top of all this, in the booklet there is a big announcement. Jame Madrox's solo album "Phatso" which alot of people have been waiting for ever since Monoxide's "Chainsmoker" album. So, the big question will be is, which album do you prefer? Man's Myth Or Mutant? Well, for me that is tough they're both really different but both great. While Man's Myth goes deep into what Twiztid is all about Mutant vol. 2 goes deeper into their rock roots, even more so than Freak Show. Which is great because lets face it, if both albums sounded the same it would be boring. Neither album is dissapointing. Two of Twiztid's best and I recommend them strongly. Best Tracks are "Get off of me" "Familiar" and the sad/ brilliant closing song "Note 2 Self" be open minded. Buy this, enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 STARS, March 23, 2006
By jono "jono" (Box Hill Nth, VIC AUS) - See all my reviews
Really good album, very different for Twiztid though. Quite alot of the songs on this album have heavy metal in them, which they have done before (Darkness, Bobbys Dad, We Don't Die etc.), but they've never done it this much though. At first it took a while to get used to all the heavy metal, but once i got used to it, i loved it. Highly recommended, even if you don't particularly like all heavy metal (like me), this is good music.

MCL.
