Editorial Reviews

Product Description

This is one of those rare times... when you can almost judge a record by its’ cover. From the title "Acid Blues Experience," to the front cover depicting Stoney Curtis caught live in the moment in front of a stack of amps, the listeners know to expect something special. The Stoney Curtis Band has been working the clubs between Los Angeles and Las Vegas for five years honing their own brand of psychedelic blues rock, readying their show for the road ahead. Heavily steeped in 60’s/70’s psychedelia, the Stoney Curtis Band has translated the energy of their phenomenal live show into the grooves of "Acid Blues Experience." --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional, April 13, 2006
An exceptional guitarist whose live performances have you convinced you're in the presence of a legend. They're not as famous as they should be but don't let that stop you buying their CD.

If you like the blues you will NOT go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rockin' Blues Funk, February 29, 2008
By Tyler S. Dodd (Louisville, KY) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is the first I've heard of this guy and I love it! I love blues rock and I particularly like the harder, distorted blues with a bit of funk thrown in. This guy fits the bill perfectly. He even has the voice to compliment the musical style. He does actually sing and has a good voice. This CD is full of barrell house blues and has that Hendrix feel to it with the harder edge. Lots of Wah, flanger and distortion! Love it! For the traditional blues lover, this wouldn't suffice, but for those of us that appreciate the blues, but love the creativity that Hendrix brought to the blues and rock, this CD is great! I haven't found too many guys that play this style consistently having to bend to a particular genre or crowd, but Stoney plays his balls off and aims to please the rocker on this CD. Rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great blues rock guitar work, July 31, 2008
By Mike Hubbard (Canton, OH USA) - See all my reviews
I bought this CD as a throw in so I could get free shipping on a Joe Bonamassa CD. I find myself listening to the Stoney CD more than Joe's CD.
I love the sound of Stoney's guitar work, and the music is no holds barred. The sound is much more rock than blues. If anything, it reminds my somewhat of Frank Marino in his Mahogany Rush days, or Rory Gallagher.
The lyrics are a bit simple, but the vocal quality is fine.
If you like blazing guitar rock, with a hint of blues, buy this CD. It's like the 70s all over again.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little disapointing ...
Nothing real special here. Not bad, but no song, lyric, or solo, really stands out to me. I think I'm always expecting to hear the latest Jimi or SRV. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A GUITAR VIRTUOSO OF THE FIRST ORDER
This album (CD) is just a small sample of what Stoney can do. If you have the opportunity to catch these guys live, don't miss it.
