4.0 out of 5 stars "Cocoa Brovaz Is Dead......Murdered By Smif N' Wessun" (4 Stars), September 13, 2005
By Norfeest "Yes Yes Y'all" (Washington DC USA) - See all my reviews

Boy, it's good to see the BCC on the come up again. Tek & Steele finally drop the third installment in the BCC triple threat, Smif N' Wessun: Reloaded. At first listen, I can tell you that it doesn't sound like their two previous albums. The beats aren't as grimy as their old stuff. I think the variety in production is a good look. It allows the album to shift gears and keeps it from being boring. Production is handled by Roc Raida, Da Beatminerz, Moss, Coptic, Khrysis, and a few others. Also, I gotta say that it's good to hear Rockness Monsta back on the mic with the other BCC emcees. He's been M.I.A. for a minute and now I'm looking for a Heltah Skeltah album to drop (lord knows they're long overdue). Back to Tek & Steele though. The album is laced with bangers and it would seem that they both have stepped their lyrical game up. Tracks like "My Timbz Do Work" feat. Heltah Skeltah and "Get Back" feat. Boot Camp Clik are vintage Smif N' Wessun tracks. But when they're backed by that hardocre production on tracks like "Toolz Of The Trade" and "U Undastand Me", that's when they really start to shine. "Sick 'Em Son" is another banger, the beat is supplied by the underrated Khrysis of the Justus League. For the most part, the album is high quality. Guests include Heltah Skeltah, Talib Kweli, Starang Wondah, Buckshot, BCC, and Tony Touch

There are two or three songs that I'd label as "skip material". They aren't wack, but I have to be in the mood to hear tracks like "A Hustler's Prayer", "Here I Stand (The Streets Been Good To Me)", and "Gun Rap". Other than that though, the rest of the album flows with no problem at all.

Despite two or three forgettable tracks, Smif N' Wessun: Reloaded is definitely worth checking out. It's not on the level of Chemistry (Buckshot & 9th Wonder), but it's probably just as good as Monkey Barz (Sean Price). The Boot Camp Clik is back y'all, and the timing couldn't be better. I reccomend picking this up as well as picking up the other two triple threat LPs. The BCC deserves the support.

Standout Tracks: City Of Godz (Ciudad De Dios) feat. Buckshot, Toolz Of The Trade, We Came Up (Crystal Stair) feat. Talib Kweli, My Timbz Do Work feat. Heltah Skeltah, Get Back feat. The Boot Camp Clik, War (My Favorite), Warriorz Song (Gangbang) feat. Dead Prez, Sick 'Em Son, PNC Boyz, and Reloaded

5.0 out of 5 stars Smif N Wessun are back!, October 26, 2005
By Chemmie (Orlando, FL United States) - See all my reviews
"Da Shinin" is in my top 3 hip hop albums ever. Since then, Smif n Wessun haven't come anywhere near matching that album. Though "Reloaded" is still a step below "Da Shinin", it's possibly the best Duckdown release since. The BCC has always had some of the tightest production in the buisiness, but this album takes it to a new level. This album is filled with classic Boot Camp, Timb boot stompin, beats. This album brings me right back to the mid nineties, banging "Enta Da Stage" and "Da Shinin". That's a place the Boot Camp Clik hasn't taken me back to in a long time.

4.0 out of 5 stars a solid album, October 22, 2005
By Howard Jones (rochester, ny) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The bcc might have fallen off a few years ago, however over the last few years, they have really came back strong. It is extremely unfortunate, that these are the ones not getting any attention. Unlike all of these other cheeseballs that disappear and return with garbage, you can always expect a solid album out of any of the bcc camp. Overall, the albums production is great, lyrics are always on point, just the same smiff n wesson, stuck in the messed up world of hip hop 05, intead of the early 90s. If your looking for something that you can drive in get bent in, do anything to, get this. If you are craving some hip hop music at its finest, tired of listening to the "real hip hop" (common, kanye, and whoever) that is so media fabricated, grab this one.. peace
