Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Wow what a beautiful game. I am very impressed by the graphics on this one. But what about the gameplay. It is very unique. Most of the game you are a human running around in first person shooter mode. This is pretty cool. Sometimes you will have to look around in the environment to find things to use. An example would be finding a spearlike object to hurl at a t-rex. THis sounds like it would be tough, but it really isn't. While you cock the spear with one hand, your other hand points to where you will throw the spear. THis brings up a very unique aspect of the game. There is no health meter, no reticle for shooting, no ammo readout. NO nothing. You are IN the game just as a real person would be. This helps with the immersion in the game. But what about the Kong Levels? They are way fun and way short. they are probably only about %25 of the game. They are fun though. A little clumsy on the controls, but fun. All in all this is a good game. Not great, but pretty good. You might wait a month and get it half priced used on ebay. Whatever the case, you will be pretty happy with your purchase.

If you wanted more SKULL ISLAND to be in the movie.. this game is for you!, December 31, 2005
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
KING KONG is a great game for a lot of reasons. It is tremendous fun for a lot of reasons. There are a handful of flaws, but the goods outweigh the bads overwhelmingly.
First off, the animation is fantastic. The first time you see the T-Rex coming after you, you'll stand and watch in amazement before you realize that you should be running your butt off because you're about to get eaten... and I did.
Not to mention the first time you see Kong emerge from the trees and rip Anne Darrow from the vine pedastal. Awesome! And as you run after him... chasing him through the jungle and see him off in the distance moving through the trees and there's no way you can catch him... cool.
There are numerous times in this game when you'll jump because the attacks are realistic, fast and ferocious. Another great thing about King Kong is the life meter... there is none. I like this. You don't have life packs or health kits... you have to be smart and run... or find a cave that the T-Rex can't get into or a rock formation. As you get bitten or hit... you'll feel it in your remote... the music will change... you'll realize you're dieing and better fight to wield off your attacker, run or accept your fate.
The bads... the dialogue or the storyline is different than the movie and it is very straight-forward and somewhat corny. Also, Anne Darrow aka Naomi Watts is WAY TOO BRAVE!! Here you are running along thinking you're supposed to be protecting her and she is running ahead of you... yelling 'come on' and running head long into a bed of monsters unarmed... then expecting you to save her... frickin' women.
Finally, I've only controlled Kong once... I'm still in the middle of playing... but although the controls are cool... you can beat your chest and let out a roar, swing... swat... rip... catch and bite the heads off of bats... you can do everything you possibly want to... which is awesome! But, the game sort of had a path that Kong HAD TO GO IN... because that was the way it was written... so I kept getting stuck because it looked like I could swing or jump somewhere, but I was supposed to go somewhere else.
Otherwise! This game is tremendous fun! I can't wait until I get to New York City and see what happens there!

A Kid's Review
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I first got this game on pc, and I was totally ASTOUNDED. My computer's graphics weren't very good - and the graphics still ROCKED! But then I got a PS2... and everything changed. But not in a bad way! In a good way. The graphics were so much better (figures seeing how the PS2 has a video card that will sustain any PS2 game that's thrown at it), and also this console version has CHEATS. Now, that may seem a bit weird to all you non-cheaters out there, but the cheats helped a lot - for example, they helped me practise the levels I was never good at, you know, so I can get better at them. It also helped so I could play the whole game without having to save the game, as I didn't have a memory card when I first got the PS2. Oh, yeah, about the game:
Pros:
- Graphics were EXCELLENT in the PS2 version, and they really made me feel more involved in the game than on the pc.
- This is a really random one, but I thought it was cool how the voices echoed in the caves and tunnels - they didn't do that on the computer.
- Controls were way easier to get used to, on the pc I was used to using the arrow keys instead of W,A,S,D and al the other controls...
- Another really random one, I can lie in bed with the controller in my hand and play KK from across the room :-P
- I loved playing as Kong in the Kong levels. Bashing up V-Rexes is so fun when you just know how to do it correctly...
Cons
- too short. I thought that it could have been a bit longer, you know, more levels - I mean, it's got like, 42 levels - but they're quite short the 2nd time round.
- ummm... please wait while I think about another con
- ok. I can't think about anything else to moan about.
This game can actually be pretty creepy at times. Like, for instance, you have to distract a V-Rex (A really, really, really, really, really, really, really big T-Rex) from eating Hayes and Denham while they open this door thing. You can achieve that by throwing spears at its head, or by shooting it in the nose, or summit... anyway, then when the door is open, you turn to run, with the V-Rex right on your heels, and WHAM - the V-Rex bites you head off. Then there's the Brontosaur level, where you have to run through a Brontosaurus stampede and get some fire while you get attacked by about 10,000 Venatosaurs (really big velociraptors).
Um, I probably shouldn't say too much more, because this is a reall long review, but anyway... you should definitely buy this game if you liked the movie. It really rocks. Two - no - EIGHT THUMBS UP TO THE UBISOFT TEAM!!!!!
