1.0 out of 5 stars Bluetooth Connection Drops Between Calls, January 30, 2006
This review is from: Body Glove EarGlove BlueVoice Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
When you get it to work right, it actually works pretty nicely with my Siemens S66. Sound quality is good, and the folks on the other end of the conversation have no problems hearing me. I don't like how the earpiece itself fits to my ear -- it sort of hangs just outside of it, so sometimes I have to press it to my ear to block out any outside noise, like road noise when I am driving -- but, otherwise, it works fairly well, so long as I'm in the middle of a conversation.

Between calls, though . . . Well, that's another story entirely, and renders this headset virtually worthless to me.

Let's set the stage, shall we?

I'm about to hit the road, so I handshake the headset to my cell phone. It's the first time connecting, so no problems at all. I make a test call to make sure all is going well. Dial my home number, hit the button to switch to the headset, click, I hear my works like a charm. Time to hit the road!

About ten minutes later, my cell phone rings. Perfect! I tap the button on the headset. Still ringing. Hm. All right, I hit the pick-up button on the cell, then the button to switch to the earpiece. Instead, I get the speaker phone. Bweh?!

After I finish the call, I look at the cell phone screen, and see that the Bluetooth connection has dropped. Grrr . . . All right, pull over. Make sure the earpiece is on. Yep, the LED is blinking. Try turning it off, then turning it back on. Nope, still not connecting. Hrm. Maybe just needs to be resynced. Instructions say to hold the volume toggle up or down for 10 seconds until the LED starts flashing. All right, holding it down now. Five seconds, 10, 15 . . . What the heck! Let's try up. Five, 10, 15 . . . Still just doing the occasional green blink at me. Starting to tick me off now. REALLY JAM is down. Five, 10, 15 . . . Nothing. REALLY JAM it up. Five, 10 . . . Blinky! All right, set the phone to resync as well . . . There we go! We have connection again. Woohoo! Just a fluke maybe? Back on the road we go.

Out of curiosity, I check the phone screen periodically to see how the Bluetooth connection is holding up. Five minutes, still good. Ten minutes, still good. Fifteen . . .

Dropped again.

This time, I hit the pick-up button on the headset, and it actually reconnects on its own! Bluetooth icon shows full connect on my cell. Woohoo! I call my folks to give them an update on some stuff going on to test things out. 15 minute phone call, no problems.

I stop checking the phone for now, and just continue on my way. Then, I stop an hour later for a quick breakfast, and check the phone once more. Bluetooth's dropped again. This time, hitting the pick-up button doesn't bring it back, either. GRRR! Again with the Dance of the Volume Toggle, and I get it connected again.

I finally get to my destination an hour or so later, and -- imagine that! -- Bluetooth's dropped AGAIN.

Now, I used a Logitech headset flawlessly for a year until the shoddily-constructed baby boom mic stopped working. Never had connect problems with it, though. This ruddy piece of junk can't seem to go 15 minutes without timing out if there's not an active conversation happening.

In short, it's useless. Find something else that works. This ain't it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money--or time, January 13, 2006
This review is from: Body Glove EarGlove BlueVoice Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought this headphone from a Sprint store (groan) and hate it! It synced to my Palm Treo 650 with no problems, but the reception is horrible. When I use it, people on the other end of the phone complain they can't hear me and the static both ways is awful.

Tried to return it to the Sprint store, but since the 2 weeks was up, I'm stuck with it. It's going to the techo garbage pile and I'm ordering a Motorola from Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great device with an inherent flaw, December 1, 2005
This review is from: Body Glove EarGlove BlueVoice Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I use this device on a daily basis with two separate phones; a Blackberry 7290 and a Sony Ericsson T637. With both phones the headset works flawlessly. I get a solid connection up to 15 feet, and beyond that it starts to get crackly. I have never dropped a call or lost bluetooth connectivity due to anything other than a fully discharged battery. The battery life is great as well. I have to recharge the phone around the same time I do the headset.

However, the extendble mic boom is an issue. Extending it really adds very little to call quality on the other end of the line and from the moment I took the earglove out of the box I knew it wouldn't last. Today the internal mechanism failed from regular use (and I hardly ever extend it).

On the flip side, I called Fellowes technical support, was on hold for 5 minutes and then they promptly took care of the issue. Imagine that, good support.

Please note though, that this device is DISCONTINUED by the manufacturer... I would imagine largely due to the boom design. I bought mine for 79.99, and even given my experiences I would say the device is a STEAL at less than 35.00.
