Editorial Reviews

Product Description

If RUN-DMC are the Beatles of rap music, Public Enemy are surely its Rolling Stones. This is studio album #10, they've sold millions of records, and their songs have become part of history, jargon, and culture. New Whirl Odor has followed that Public Enemy tradition in trendsetting, while never repeating themselves. "Bring That Beat Back," "Revolution," "Preaching to the Quiet," and "Superman's Black in the Building" are tracks also coupled with videos on the accompanying DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars P.E. does it again..., November 2, 2005
By B. Bowman "Double B" (Jersey, United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this (without the DVD disc) and was BLOWN AWAY after the first listen. I haven't heard P.E. rap with this much conviction in years, this is easily their strongest effort since "Fear of a Black Planet". Every track is tight and the result is that Public Enemy is BACK without a doubt. Its great to hear a master like Chuck D. show the new generation how its really done. Just when I thought this one couldn't get any better I got to the last track, "Superman's Black In The Building", an eleven and a half minute opus that is worth the price of the disc alone. Its to the point now that Public Enemy are sampling their past work regularly on their new releases and its interesting to hear their older work mixed with new songs. If you are a fan of Public Enemy this is a must have; if you are part of the Fifty Cent generation this is also recommended. You just might learn something.

5.0 out of 5 stars P.E. shows us all how it's done, March 15, 2006
By Ward Hoelscher (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
To find a Public Enemy as good as this one, you have to reach all the way back to Fear of a Black Planet or It Takes a Nation of Millions....

This is amazing.... and the crime is that this probably won't go down as one of their most well-known albums. This is a damn fine album from start to finish- I can even listen to the instrumentals, which I usually can't do. If you like Public Enemy and don't get this album, you should be guilty of some crime. Seriously, it's that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bring that Beat Back, November 9, 2005
I guess the only way you get to be a top 50 reviewer is by the amount of reviews you write, not the quality. Mistermaxx has written 5,000+ reviews, and about 25% of them make sense. Please use a spell and grammar checker in the future. Also, how can you slag PE as a "plantation act" when two of your favorite artists are Michael Jackson and R. Kelly? PE has kept it real for a lot longer than these two were delving into underage deviance. They continue to do so on "New Whirl Odor". While not quite the dense production of the Bomb Squad, PE branches out with their band and spit fire on tracks like the title track, "Revolution", and "Makes Ya Blind". Chuck D has never, and will never go "bling". This CD (music only) is currently 6.99 at Best Buy, the best bargain in the hip-hop world at the moment. Get it and learn.
