3.0 out of 5 stars Almost but not quite., April 13, 2006

Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
I really recommend that if you are thinking of purchasing this game you download the demo first because- that's just how it is. The demo is taken straight from the game and is an excellent example of how the game is played and what the overall feel is. This is a very straightforward game that requires little imagination on your part- simply point and click your way around and don't worry to much about messing up- it won't let you. In fact, I was struck again and again by how much more enjoyable it could have been with a few simple choices to be made by the player but really there aren't any. The game keeps you on track whether you like it or not and don't plan on exploring to much- there are a few frustrating areas where you need to combine inventory items that are a little off the beaten path but when it comes down to it simple trial and error will see you through.

The positives: the puzzles, few as they are, are entertaining and moderately challenging. The graphics are wonderful, the soundtrack adds to the game without overwhelming it and the characters and story are interesting. For a novice gamer this would be a challenge and could be seen as something of a tutorial on the way to more robust games however, with the odd inventory combination frustrations I would worry that it might put a beginner off the genre entirely. Overall it's an okay game but I really wish more thought/time had been put into developing the game more thoroughly as I really do think it could have been one of the great's with just a bit more work.

2.0 out of 5 stars NiBiRu...The Mysterious Planet of Cheese, December 18, 2006
Let's start with the a positive note: the background graphics are gorgeously done which remind me of the Myst game series. I think the game would come across even better if they made it first person instead of the awful third person graphics they laid on top of the background graphics. The characters body/ergonomic movements remind me of second generation Nintendo graphics - awful!

Then there is the voice acting/scripting - just terrible; sooo unnatural you can almost hear the pages in the actors hands being switched - and did they hire people off the street to do the painfully fake European accents voice-overs on here? There are even parts where you can hear they used different people for the voice-over scripting in the same paragraphs or sentences.

Some of the logic behind things you have to do is moronic. I don't know if they are intended to be comedic, or it's just more cheese. For example, having to tie a stick of dynamite to a rat to let him go through a hole in a wall to blast a secret door open...I'm sure we all think of things like that to do in our problem-solving skills. With the over all serious tone of the game from the beginning, I'm guessing this wasn't an attempt at humour, but just plain cheese as with the voice scripting/acting.

I haven't even finished the game, but I'm going to since I paid for it, even if it means turning the audio off because the voice-acting/script is as bearable as nail scratching a chalkboard...and that's what makes this game almost scary.

3.0 out of 5 stars Incoherent execution of play, September 19, 2006
Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
I've been playing adventure games since the late 1980s. Background graphics are fairly nice and detailed. I didn't like how the main character moves, he acts like a robot, quite stiff. Now the most frustrating point of this game: difficulty of puzzles vary too drastically, like heaven and hell. 99% of the puzzles are so easy that you just have to click and click and done. The bomb comes dropping down on you when the few occasions that the puzzles are simply unsuitable for adventure games, instead more appropriate for a college calculus or algorithms course. How many of you can solve a Rubik's Cube? I don't want to give out the plot of the game, but if you answer yes to the question, then by all mean get this game.

3.0 out of 5 stars pretty good
This is a great game to spend a Saturday on. Its very short but the graphics are really good. Your character does move way to slow and the dialog can get pretty boring at times. Read more
