We love do-it-yourself projects. With all the tools around here, who wouldn't? But one thing we didn't like was all the tedious prep work. Until now.

Here comes Black & Decker's clever little ProjectMate: a detail sander, scraper and screwdriver all in one, and to move from one function to another, just snap on one of the three toolheads. The detail sander head comes to a nice point that gets into corners and between chair slats, and it's got a big enough surface to make quick work of surface prep for painting or staining. If scraping is on your chore list, the ProjectMate really comes to the rescue, saving tons of effort and elbow grease with its 8,500 rpm-all you have to do is hold it where you want it. Four interchangeable scraper blades are included, but our favorite by far is the claw blade: Goodbye, old paint! It also does a heck of a job removing tile thinset and other adhesives.

If you're a do-it-yourselfer, you likely already have a power screwdriver in some form, whether it's a drill or a dedicated screwdriver, so we weren't as excited about the screwdriver feature of the ProjectMate. Still, it's a nice feature, and super handy for removing outlet covers and switchplates when you're getting ready to paint your walls.

The only problem I have found is the screwdriver attachment is a bit cumbersome for tight spots - it worked well putting up curtain rods, but had difficulty putting in child safety locks in drawers and cupboards due to tight spaces.
Sanding and scaping functions well, overall a very nice value.

This tool works great as a drill and screw driver. It has the potential for additional tasks with the included attachments which I have not used. I like that it is versitile, easy to change from bit to driver and a great find at the Amazon price. I recommend this tool for anyone that has to maintain their home.

I bought this item to primarily use as a paint scraper. In that function it does very well. I expected it to work in a reciporicating motion but found it works in a vibrating motion (so it doesn't appear to be moving too much). When I first turned it on I was apprehensive, but once I put it to the paint it seemed to work well. The sanding attachment seems to work well also. The drill attachment? I don't know...I haven't used it. I have plenty of other drills I prefer to use.
