The seventh season of Survivor made a legend out of Rupert Boneham, the most popular contestant in the history of the kingpin reality show. Was it because the giant bear of a man harbored a gentle personality, expressed in his job as a mentor for troubled teens? Was it his tie-dyed shirt and makeshift skirt? Or was it just good fortune that the season was set in the Pearl Islands of Panama, which allowed black-bearded Rupert, in the very first episode, to steal the opposing tribe's shoes, all in the name of the pirate theme?

But the season wasn't only about Rupert. It got off to an unusual start when the 16 castaways were tossed overboard wearing their street clothes and left to find supplies in a small village. There was Armani-suited attorney Andrew Savage straining to support a load of sand bags, muscular Osten Taylor making a surprising decision that inspired host Jeff Probst to alter his tag line, Sandra Diaz-Twine sneaking around in the bushes, tall blonde Christa Hastie in tears after being accused of throwing away fish, and Jon "Jonny Fairplay" Dalton pulling off a dirty trick and becoming one of the show's great villains. Other memorable contestants included athletic Burton Roberts, sexy mortician Darrah Johnson, and Scoutmaster Lillian Morris. Then when the 10 remaining people in the Drake and Morgan tribes expected a merge, an unprecedented twist prompted one castaway to declare, "Revenge, baby. It's all about revenge." Bonus features consist of commentary on two episodes by the team of Rupert, Sandra, and Christie, and on three episodes by Jon, Ryan Opray ("Ryan O."), Burton, and Andrew; a 29-minute season recap featuring new interviews with a number of contestants; and clips from each person's pre-game interview intercut with in-season footage that either supports or undercuts their plans. --David Horiuchi

I'm really looking forward to the release of Pearl Islands. This is my favorite season of Survivor yet, and I'm glad that it's coming out right after another of my favorites, Australia. The Pearl Islands season of the show was proof that Survivor was still in its stride. This season truly had it all: memorable characters, exciting twists, fun challenges, a simply beautiful locale (that has since been recycled for use on All-Stars, another worthwhile season to check out on DVD), and an awesome pirate theme that really added a lot to the show. You had two characters representing the opposite ends of the spectrum: the ultimate villain in Johnny Fairplay and America's hero, and most popular castaway ever, Rupert Boneham. This season also brought out one of my favorite winners.

This season also contains the infamous Outcast twist, which a lot of people were unhappy with because they felt it went against the entire idea of the show. While I agree with that notion, I loved the twist because it made for really exciting television.

In short, invest in this season of Survivor. It is impossible to be disappointed, because, as I stated above, it truly does have it all: suspense, characters, location, etc. In short, a memorable season of a memorable TV series.

This season of Survivor is one of the best seasons. It has everything a perfect Survivor season should have. It has popular players such as Rupert Boneham, Sandra Diaz-Twine, Darrah Johnson, and Christa Hastie. It also has arguably the most hated villain in reality TV history, Jon Dalton, who is better known as Jonny Fairplay. It has great moments such as Jonny Fairplay's dead grandmother hoax, the fight Jonny Fairplay and Rupert Boneham had, and when Rupert Boneham stole the Morgan tribe's shoes. It also has shocking moments and twists. Also, an unexpected person becomes the physical threat in the challenges. It also has great bonus features, such as commentary with Jonny Fairplay, Sandra Diaz-Twine, Christa Hastie, and Rupert Boneham. This DVD is perfect for reality TV fans.

Survivor Pearl Islands will be released November 29, 2005. No Art work yet but we should expect it soon. This set should have a lot of extras on it because there are rumors that the cast is doing a lot lately .
