The World Is Not Ready to Rock This Hard...., February 7, 2006
...luckily for the world Andrew W.K. has arrived to show us how to rock this hard!!!!!
In all seriousness though, this is the most rocking, hardest core, sweetest live DVD ever. I'm a connoisseur of live DVDs from rocking acts, and this DVD is by far one of the most original live DVDs I've ever seen and I'm so happy to add it to my collection!! Quite honestly, when I heard that this DVD was going to be shot from different shows throughout the last 5 years or so, I was a little nervous in how seemlessly a concert experience it would seem. There was no need to worry. Similar to the flawless mixing that put multiple concerts together on the Slipknot live CD, the video and audio mixing that blend multiple concerts into this single concert DVD is awesome. It's flawless, except for the occassional change in background and his band's clothing, you would never be able to tell each song was recorded separately from the next.
The approach to this DVD is also uniquely AWK. Most live DVDs present themselves as just that. A live DVD. This DVD is put forth like a movie. A movie that tells a story. A story about rocking loud, rocking hard, and loving every second of it. Loving this life through rocking and appreciating everything around us. That's the story this movie tells through the soundtrack and brilliance of Andrew W.K.
If you've ever thought you liked him buy this DVD. If you've ever laughed at him or laughed with him buy this DVD. Andrew W.K. is one of a kind. The best kind! He's awesome and this DVD will not disappoint anyone who loves music as much as Andrew W.K. and his fans do.

great live performances, huge laughs, and scary as all hell, February 14, 2006
i ordered this dvd with much anticipation and i could scarecely get andrew out of my cd player the weeks i had to wait for the dvd release. when i finally got it, i was expecting backstage antics, intense crowd moments, and in general, AWK just having a great time and rocking out. there was all that... and a bit more. from the beginning of the dvd with andrew's haunting narraration, to the 2 minute segements of him staring at the camera it get's to be pretty funny. then things take an interesting twist and images more terrifying than scenes from "the ring" appear and you're just kind of left with a feeling that can only described as WTF!
all in all, a great buy, a memorable live dvd but in all honesty, Andrew.... are you ok dude?

Just when you thought it was safe to not-party..., July 7, 2006
... here comes Andrew W.K. to kick you in the rear end once again and rip a few new holes in your eardrums. AWK's music has always been notable for its subtlety, its refinement, its nuance, its restraint, its suave sophistication -- there isn't *any* of that! It's about as subtle as a sledgehammer hitting an atomic bomb, and that's what's so great about it. Let's face it, the rock scene has been pretty boring ever since Andrew stepped out of the spotlight, so this is a welcome harbinger of his return.
This DVD is mostly a record of live performances, and they give you about as good a feel for Andrew's live show as is possible on DVD -- that is, without the sweat, the crush of people, the overpowering volume, getting kicked in the head by stage divers, and getting to shake hands with Andrew after the show. If you haven't seen his show, yes, it really is a total zoo like you see in these performances, and it's a heck of a good time too. The guy doesn't seem capable of putting on a bad show -- he can rock harder in a wheelchair than most rockers can standing up (and I mean this *literally* -- several of the performances were done while Andrew was in a wheelchair; he broke his foot while on tour and he *still* kept performing). There's also the usual behind-the-scenes footage and a lot of miscellaneous extras, my favorite being Andrew performing an instrumental version of his song "I Get Wet" on unaccompanied piano. There are also several very bizarre interludes with Andrew staring at the camera while weird music plays in the background. Some of these struck me as unintentionally hilarious, some are more than a little disturbing, but mostly they're just weird (but they're 100% Andrew; restraint is not in this guy's nature). True, Andrew may well not be the world's most psychologically stable individual, but as long as he keeps rocking, I'll keep listening.
Andrew W.K. seems to be one of those artists you either get or you don't get. If you get him, you'll love this DVD. If not, let me just explain that (a) he's not a fake, (b) it's not a joke, and (c) there isn't a trace of irony in any of this. It's exactly what it appears to be, full-throttle life-affirming rock and roll. I think Andrew is a misunderstood rock genius, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the three (!) records he's going to release in the coming year.
