5.0 out of 5 stars Best reusable arch support I have used, July 8, 2008
I have had plantar fasciatis for at least 10 years. As a distance runner (age 51) I want to keep running and have tried all the exercises, sleep socks, and arch supports. This support seems to be the most comfortable on the run, holds up over the miles (and washings) and keeps my arch from flaring up. Doing the toe curls in the morning before getting out of bed and using this arch support during runs or hiking should help to keep you pain free, it has worked well for me ever since I found these.

3.0 out of 5 stars May work well for some but not others, depending on your foot issues, March 12, 2009
I don't have plantar fasciitis. I have high arches, and often use orthotic shoe inserts to get adequate footbed support. I purchased this product because I sometimes get arch pain when not wearing shoes (eg: martial arts, Taiko drumming), and I have suspected this is due to stress from insufficient foot support.

This product has a compression pad located under the medial (inside) part of the arch which the packaging states is to "reduce excessive pronation" (walking with more pressure on the inner edge of the feet). Pronation is also not an issue of mine, as I am instead prone to supination (pressure on the outer edges). Wearing the product, I find I prefer to adjust it so that the compression pad is a bit more toward the center and under the highest portion of my arch, to achieve something more resembling (albeit vaguely) the behavior of an orthotic shoe insert. It feels a bit odd, but seems to provide some reasonable support; however I would prefer if the pad were a bit wider with tapered sides, like the raised area on a shoe insert. I realize, though, that this pad was not intended to serve as an orthotic arch support, but merely as a "wedge" on the inner side of the foot to inhibit pronation.

I like the adjustable feature, but the other issue I have noticed is discomfort (scratching) and irritation from the plastic backing of the velcro strap when wearing this product barefoot. I have to wear it over a sock.

It would be nice if this product were purchasable individually, not just in pairs, as I don't necessarily need to wear both. At $18.99 a pair, it's a bit pricey, though it seems durable.

For barefoot wear, as well as least bulky inside shoes, I find that the Pedifix Arch Bandage #P60 (do a search for best price on those; $8.99 for one is a bit steep) is more comfortable, though it is not adjustable. Your mileage may vary. :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Not quite right
These don't work well, rub the skin raw if you use on bare skin. The velcro fasten is not secure enough. The padding is lacking. Hard to get tight enough to be supportive.

These are nice and do the trick, but it would be better if the material around the Velcro was elastic so I could make them tighter around my feet. Read more

These are versatile-work in shoes or for barefoot activities such as dancing and Taiko Drumming. They were effective in relieving knee and heel pain.
