Corinne Bailey Rae, December 30, 2006
English Singer and Songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae's self titled debut album "Corinne Bailey Rae" (2006) is a memorable twelve track release full of feel good music. Corrine Bailey Rae is a gifted singer who's soulful singing, and beautiful personality shine through on this release. In addition to singing Bailey Rae plays the acoustic, electric and spanish guitar, percussion, bass, piano and keyboards. Not to be forgotten is group of background personnel who provide some exceptional and outstanding instrumentals and production. My personal favourites on this release are: "Call Me When You Get This", "Like A Star", "Enchantment" and "Butterfly". Bailey Rae takes her audience through an enjoyable journey on this album, covering many different aspects of life and love. "Corrine Bailey Rae" is an international release I recommend to anyone who enjoy's quality music.

Soulful Corinne Bailey Rae is a breath of fresh air.., March 8, 2007
Soulful Corinne Bailey Rae is a breath of fresh air. When you listen to her songs, you can feel that she is connected (shows emotion) with the songs (and the lyrics). It's quite amazing to see a singer her age able to express music at this level.
Her voice is not the best I have heard but she's definitely unique. Her voice is comforting and down to earth.
If you like Jazz, Blues or Soul, you should definitely try to listen to the jazzy, bluesy and soulful Corinne Bailey Rae.
And I highly recommend you to listen to "Put Your Records On" at least several times and I'm sure most of you will love it...

Three little birds, sat on my window.
And they told me I don't need to worry.
Summer came like cinnamon
So sweet,
Little girls double-dutch on the concrete.
Maybe sometimes, we've got it wrong, but it's alright
The more things seem to change, the more they stay the same
Oh, don't you hesitate.
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.
You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.
Blue as the sky, sunburnt and lonely,
Sipping tea in the bar by the roadside,
(just relax, just relax)
Don't you let those other boys fool you,
Got to love that afro hair do.
Maybe sometimes, we feel afraid, but it's alright
The more you stay the same, the more they seem to change.
Don't you think it's strange?
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.
You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.
'Twas more than I could take, pity for pity's sake
Some nights kept me awake, I thought that I was stronger
When you gonna realise, that you don't even have to try any longer?
Do what you want to.
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.
Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.
Oh, you're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow

the best love album i have heard in ages, October 22, 2006
like other reviewers have said, it's easy to listen from front to back. and I do so several times a day, like everyday since I got it. I first learned of corinne on BETj late spring. "Put your records on" is what they played most and now more so "Like a star". Both songs are great and great for an introduction of her to mainstream.
I love all of her lyrics, her voice, and just her. Her SNL performance had a sister in tears. I think many more people picked up on her with this performance and I'm glad she did it.
First listens of course should be the aforementioned cuts but also check out "enchantment" "butterfly" and "seasons change" This is something you can listen to in the car with your kids or even grandma. NO raunchy and crappy lyrics here.
