Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

This ultra-modern men’s kinetic watch has sleek styling and advanced technological features. Like all Seiko kinetic watches, it is powered by human movement. Instead of relying on a battery, it draws energy from the natural movement of your wrist. It has a five-month power reserve capacitor, so that even if you leave it on the shelf for six months, it will continue to keep accurate time. It has both an overcharge prevention function and an energy depletion forewarning function.

This watch’s round charcoal dial features a prominent stopwatch. The stopwatch second hand circles the main dial, measuring 1/5-second increments. The stopwatch minute hand measures up to 45 minutes. Both hands are red and stand out against the dark charcoal dial. If you simply want to know what time it is, you’ll find that displayed on two smaller sub-dials. This watch also features a date window at the 4:30 position. Other features of this watch include a sapphire crystal and a screw-down caseback. The watch has a polished titanium bezel with engraved numbers at five-minute intervals. Its case and bracelet-style band are crafted from brushed-finish titanium with polished accents. Titanium is nearly 50 percent lighter than steel, but 30 percent stronger. The band fastens with a push-button release clasp. Water-tested to 100 meters, this watch is suitable for both swimming and snorkeling.

Kinetic: A powerhouse in technological innovation

Like mechanical and quartz, Kinetic is a platform. Over the past 20 years, SEIKO has created on this platform a suite of Kinetic movements, each bringing unique features to the consumer.

It was at the 1986 Basel Fair that SEIKO unveiled its first Kinetic prototype. Introduced under the trial name of 'AGM', it was the first watch in the world to convert kinetic movement into electrical energy. It was the first step in a development that, 20 years later, has made Kinetic synonymous with environmental friendliness, high performance and long-lasting convenience to a generation of users worldwide. From the launch in 1988 of the first commercially available watch (then under the new name AGS) until today, over eight million Kinetic watches have been sold (as of 2007).

In 1998, Kinetic Auto Relay was released, extending the 'at-rest' operating period of the watch to a remarkable 4 years. 1999 saw the launch of the Ultimate Kinetic Chronograph, a masterpiece which fused the very best of SEIKO's mechanical and electronic watch making skills, and in 2003 another Kinetic Chronograph was launched. At Baselworld 2005, the Kinetic Perpetual made its first appearance, combining Kinetic convenience and longevity with a perpetual calendar, correct to the year 2100. In 2007, SEIKO's emotional technology Kinetic Direct Drive is introduced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight & VERY cool!, February 23, 2006
By Jen "Jen" (Woodinville, WA USA) - See all my reviews
I got this watch for my husband for our anniversary. He absolutely loves it. It's a substantial watch, but it's so lightweight that he doesn't feel the need to take it off right when he gets home from work. It looks great with everything. The picture doesn't do it justice. And for such incredible savings, you can't go wrong! You won't regret it. Definitely buy this watch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Watch. Looks Better in Person., April 20, 2006
By Jon Douglas (Kailua, HI) - See all my reviews
I bought this watch about two months ago. It is the first watch I have ever owned that cost me over $50. That being said, I tend to still wear it like a sports watch. So far it has been very durable for me. I have dinged it up against a few things and the face of the watch is still perfectly clear. The body of the watch is very thin and doesn't catch on things, which is a problem I have had in the past with other watches.

The watch is very lightweight for a metal watch. It weighs about the same as a digital watch. It is a good looking watch, too. I was a bit hesitant to buy the watch because the picture made it look pretty dull, but I went to Seiko's website and it looked better on there. On the face of the watch, the outer ring is actually a refletive metal, although the picture makes it look like a grey paint. Also, the dots that indicate the hour marks are almost like mirrors and catch the light well.

The only thing that takes getting used to on this watch is the fact that the time is displayed in about 1/3 of the face and the rest of the face is for the chronograph function. Also, if you are like me and have had a lot of sports watches, it's hard to get used to not having multiple time zones, alarms, timers, etc, but I knew that before I bought it, so no complaints.

The only complaint I have is that the glow-in-the-dark strips built into the hour and minute hand barely work. Unless I remember to hold the face of the watch up to a light to charge them up, I can't tell what time it is in the dark.

Overall, it is a very nice watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars So lightweight!!, January 9, 2007
By M. Howard (SW Florida) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have the titanium and stainless steel model of this watch. They are like night and day as far a weight. The titanium model feels as thought it weighs almost half as much as the other. I am very happy with this purchace as I got it for way under MSRP. Would highly recommend this watch to anyone who likes understated good looks! The only downside is that you cannot read this watch in the dark without another light source.
