Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Breakthrough artist for 2006, Corinne's fragile voice sneaks through the back to basics pulsating R&B beat. Her silken voice utters the lyrics in such a carefree manor the Leeds born vocalist appears to barely try yet achieves so much. 'Put Your Records On' is taken from her much hyped debut album Like A Star. The title track is backed with 'Another Rainy Day'. EMI.

4.0 out of 5 stars Keeps Those Records On, July 4, 2006
By Michael Kerner "Michael Kerner" (Brooklyn, New York U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
The past few years really haven't brought much in the way of newer artists for the music industry that sound just simply fresh and soulful. What I like about Corrine Bailey Rae is her simplicity and tone with her music. It just feels beautiful and elequent with each tone on her breakout single, Put Your Records On, the second track from her debut album. The song is a delight to listen to. I like this song a whole lot because it isn't overconjured and it just is a great down to Earth song. I just really am expecting much more from this promising voice down the road. She sounds delightful.

Song: B+

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely a MUST BUY, June 25, 2006

(REAL NAME)
Corinne Bailey Rae reminds of the first time I heard the names Gabriella Anders and Nora Jones. It's as if I've been waiting for this album for years. Her silky, soulful, innocent voice takes us back to a time when music was expected to be enjoyed. Thank you Lady, for such beautiful music. Where the heck have you been hiding?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Soulful Singing, September 18, 2006
As many haved explained, Ms. Rae has a supremely soulful and raw voice. It's really good stuff (especially if it's snowing and you've got a good book). Notice that reviewer, 'thayes' has rated almost all other CDs with horrible ratings. Mr. thayes seems like someone who missed the talent train and may be a bit bitter. It's pretty great stuff. I'd go for Corinne. If it means anything, she is a popular artist on the Barns and Noble speakers.

I love her music. However, I didn't realize until I got the CD that there are only two tracks on it. It was like getting an old 45 record or a demo tape.
