5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product for multiple Uses., January 11, 2007
This review is from: Motorola HT820 - Headset ( behind-the-neck ) - wireless - Bluetooth (Wireless Phone Accessory)
To start this review I just want to say that I started off very skeptical of this product. I didnt like the look of the headphones and didnt understand how wireless music could sound better than music sent over a cord. I ran into a deal using a corporate discount that made these headphones about $11.50 so I picked them up and here is what I have experienced:

:-:Music Playback:-:
The actual music playback is amazing. The bass is great as well as the actual sound quality. I am using the LGVX9900 from Verizon Wiress as my source device and I couldnt be happier. The actual headphones can get almost air tight over your ear which boosts the bass quality and how intense the sound sounds.

5/5

:-:Mic Quality:-:
I have owned a couple bluetooth headsets since they actually launched and I have to say that this one truly competes. Dispite all being the same technology it really does depend on the phone you have and the service you are using. With my 9900 this device is rockin. I hear the person clear as day and in return so do they. I havent run into any situation where the person on the other end hears an echo like you may find with pervious headsets.

Mic Quality = 4/5

:-:Range:-:
Once again this kind of thing depends on your source device but I can say with my 9900 I was able to walk all over the house without keeping the phone on me and I heard everything as well as if I was standing next to the phone. Sure it will start to cut out if you are far enough, but this is farther than I was able to go with any of my actual bluetooth headsets.

Range: 5/5

:-:Comfort:-:
From what I am sure you have read from other reviews the comfort of the headset is sometimes an issue. I too have found instances of this but I think it is something that needs to be specified. The headset can work itself into an uncomfortable position but this is easily fixed. I found this position occuring when I bent down to pick things up. All you have to do is re-adjust it and your fine. It's not a huge deal but I could live without it.

Comfort: 3/5

:-:Design and Features:-:
Design is a big thing now adays. Everything is jazzed up to make it appeal to whatever market or demagraphic the manufactuer wants. The actual look of the headphones is nice. Sleek design with combined with a nice shape and concept adds to the flare. The problem I have with it is that it sticks out a bit. We call it the Princess Leiah (or however it is spelled) cause it looks like the buns she sported in the movie. The headphones also have a volume up and down button on the left as well as a forward or previous song control on the right ear. It also has a slot so you can actually hook the headset up to non-Bluetooth devices. This works extremely well for my laptop which I do music editing with but doesnt support bluetooth devices. All extra features are extremely handy. With these headphones it isnt about appearance but the quality of the experience your having while using it...and that experience is good.

Design and Features: 3/5

:-:Overall:-:
Overall this headset rocks. With what I know now I would be more than happy to pay $100 for it if needed. This is my first Bluetooth stero headset that I have purchased but I feel i'm starting off strong. I love this headset and I think others would too.

OVERALL: 4/5

-Buy it and enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product...if your phone supports it, May 15, 2006
By Captain Carribean (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Motorola HT820 - Headset ( behind-the-neck ) - wireless - Bluetooth (Wireless Phone Accessory)
WARNING: These headphones will only work with cell phones and other Bluetooth devices that support the A2DP profile, which is found in any Bluetooth version 1.2 implementation. Be sure you know whether your device will support them before making a purchase.

I've had my HT820s for around 3 months now, and I'm pleased with them. I use them for both phone calls and listening to music. They handle the basics well enough.

PROS:
Excellent phone call quality. The microphone does a great job picking up my voice.

Reasonable music playback quality. It's as good as probably 60% of the hard-wired headphones I've used.

CONS:
A little expensive. I understand this is a new product/technology. But I don't see many people buying these phones at the list price.

Uncomfortable at first. I was very turned off by the comfort of these headphones in the first week, but now they feel fine. My ears hurt after wearing them for more than 10 minutes. The heavy earpieces are hung off the tops of your ears. The only padding on the top part is a piece of rubber that looks like and feels like a shark's fin. Somehow my ears got accustomed to them. I can now wear them for at least 2 hours without noticing.

Adequate reception quality. At least with my phone, I've had a few minor issues. The headphones have cut out calls with the phone in my pocket and my jacket hood up during a rainstorm. I've also noticed that the connection is a lot better when my phone is in my right pocket.

Those flashing blue lights. Granted, they can be turned off, but I didn't ask for this feature. It adds 0 value to my life. It seems like a cutesy marketing gimmick by Motorola that I've had to pay for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Everything's great but the fit, June 29, 2006
This review is from: Motorola HT820 - Headset ( behind-the-neck ) - wireless - Bluetooth (Wireless Phone Accessory)
As with all wrap-around-the-neck-style headphones, these just don't fit right. I'm an average size girl, meaning my head is smaller than the average size guy. I've seen pictures of how they're supposed to fit -- I guess the back of the headpiece is supposed to sit on your neck. I don't know who thought that would be a good "one size fits all" design. The back sticks out a couple inches from the back of my head and when I move my head I can feel/hear it rubbing against the back of my jacket collar.

These babies are also a bit heavy, and probably a bit better suited to someone with a wider head -- I have to carefully fold my ears into place and then let the headphones hang off them. It doesn't hurt as much as you might think though -- I could probably get used to it.

If these came in a regular over-the-head style, I would gladly make the exchange. The sound quality is good and functionality is awesome. I love getting phone calls in stereo!

So now I have to decide if I can get used to/deal with the poor fit. I'm 50/50 right now as to whether I will return them or just try to deal with it.
