Editorial Reviews

Product Description
"The switch thrown as raw lightning arcs down the line; violent, consuming the cold form upon the table. Within moments, the power is diminished. By the glimmer of the half-extinguished light, I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a convulsive motion agitated its limbs..." – Dieselboy, 2006

Step into Dieselboy’s laboratory, as he builds the beast known as THE HUMAN RESOURCE. Disc One ‘SELECTED WORKS,’ is the first CD compilation from Dieselboy’s mighty drum & bass label, HUMAN. This 12-song sonic monster includes club anthems and VIP remixes from )EIB(, DJ Fresh, The Upbeats, Dieselboy + Kaos and more.

Disc Two ‘EVOL INTENT ASSEMBLE THE MONSTER’ features a continuous DJ-mix from one of America’s top d’n’b DJ/producer crews, Evol Intent, hand picked by Dieselboy to stitch together some of the best of the HUMAN catalog, plus exclusive tracks and remixes from Gridlok, Infiltrata + Hochi, Vector Burn, Dieselboy + Technical Itch and others.

2.0 out of 5 stars All firepower, no finesse., July 11, 2006
Sorry folks, I just wasn't feelin' this one. I've been down with Diesel since System, but this, in my opinion, is his least-desirable album this decade. One thing I did like about this record was its clean production and mastering, thus making it sound good even on low-budget systems. But overall, this record came off as rather soulless to me, which is kind of ironic, considering the title. Technically, it's pretty tight, I admit, but the track selection on both discs is lukewarm at best. Disc 2 was particularly disappointing considering that I dig many of Evol Intent's other (re)mixes. Overall there wasn't a single magical moment or musical miracle in the whole 2+ hours of material, just "hard" beats and rough bass, none of which were fresh or innovative (or even that hard really). If you want sicker melodies, more dramatic breakdowns (and/or reconstructions), or maybe just the periodic emotional/contemplative moment amidst sufficiently hard/dark themes check The Dungeonmaster's Guide, or the even more eargasmic Project Human. If you just want to mosh, headbang, or blast your system at intersections, get this lifeless example of recent Drum n' Bass - which seemingly has become more a stage for adolescent expressions like "hip" and "hard", and less the forum of artistic license and musical advancement that it had briefly become.

I love most of Diesel Boy's work. This one is just another example of why. Amazing drum and bass that will make your head spin.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a..., July 10, 2008
I would like to classify this album as "a good'en." Good for the ears and the feet. I think d-boy carries a warehouse in his back pocket. Always very spacious.
