Editorial Reviews

From the Artist

Matthew Langston is fed up with all the talk of pain, sorrow, and agony he hears every day on the radio. Over the past year, the music industry has been swept under an avalanche of self-pity and grief by recent trends in popular rock music. Though many of these types of bands have connected with today’s youth, Langston, lead vocalist of Greenville, South Carolina pop/punk trio eleventyseven, feels it’s time to focus his musical energy on something a bit more uplifting. And he's sure he's not alone in his sentiments."You get tired of being yelled at, hearing the same parallels drawn in every song," Langston explains. "Knives. Night. Pain. Winter. We have been put here to enjoy the blessings in life, not cry about the curse of our self-inflicted pain. We want to push people past their feelings, passions, and experiences...past their circumstances to see the big picture of God’s creation. We want people to feel what He has done for us and wear a smile when they leave our concerts. I know that there are so many out there who need this message, and we have captured the spirit of these ideas on our debut disc, ‘And the Land of Fake Believe.’" "Our music makes fun of almost everything. I look back at experiences I‘ve had, realize what a ‘loser’ I was, and I have a huge laugh. No one is really that cool, and we want people to learn to take themselves less seriously. But joking aside, we’re very serious about our purpose. One of the major life themes adopted by this band is learning from our own mistakes. I have made many. And the weight of that is enough to drive me out of my mind sometimes. If I didn’t laugh, if I didn’t learn to live with joy in forgiveness, I would probably end up miserable."

Product Description

Quirky pop-punk doesn’t mesh with social (and spiritual) commentary and Yahtzee should never be considered a professional sport…but with and the land of fake believe, eleventyseven’s debut release on Flicker Records, they do both. Addictive melodies and deeper than expected lyrics, eleventyseven’s debut packs a pure pop punch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eleventyseven's a lucky number!, May 23, 2006
By Elemenop (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
Though none too groundbreaking in style and/or sound, Eleventyseven (11t7) is a pleasant and welcome addition to today's modern punky-pop genre. Spright and peppy guitars bounce off the walls, trying to keep pace with the fervent drumming on songs like "More Than A Revolution", "MySpace" and "A Stellar Sayonara", which should please fans of bands like Relient K, Bowling For Soup, Stellar Kart and of course Blink-182. Mixed among the upbeat proceedings are a couple of excellent power ballads and a pair of even softer numbers. Add to that the top-notch production quality (which is very commercial and definately 'radio-ready'), and we may in fact be looking at one of the better debuts of this year! Whether you're a Christian or not, you're sure to find some fresh and exciting songs on this, mostly secular, album that you'll be tossing onto your next mix cdr. Believe it!

5.0 out of 5 stars SAVE THE UNICORNS!! 11t7, June 20, 2008
I'm not actually Bryan, I'm his teenage daughter. This is a really great band. They're totally unique. I love the beats they put into their music. It's really addicting and makes you wanna dance. If you're into, say, Hawk Nelson or Stellar Kart or other pop-punk bands, then this is totally for you. I have a bunch of friends, guys and girls alike, with music interests from screamo to country to rock, and they've told me they like eleventyseven after just hearing them one time. They're a really fun band, and great in concert, too. I would check out both of their CD's. So if you're looking for a good beat, cool songs, and something just really different, then I've got one word for you: Eleventyseven

3.0 out of 5 stars It's a pretty good CD, January 7, 2008
I like the band a lot, they are really great guys. The CD's okay... it's not going to be the best you've ever bought, but it's worth buying (especially if it's used). They're a Christian punk-ish band (though some punk bands might laugh at that notion).
