It's curiously working..., May 3, 2007
So the net/net is yes, I started seeing a difference at the end of the second month. We started on the strategy pack. The Extress for the husband and son. The Memorin for myself and our son.
I started my 14 year old son, in January, with the Attend product. We (I) have been avoiding using ADHD meds consistently over the past 5 years because, of their side effects and long term risks. Our family GP and I started experimenting with different ADHD medication (there are dozens on the market) he was in the 4th grade. His current teachers were adamant that his behavior was intolerant to their classes and his quality of work was not what he was capable of.
He's a good kid, never in any serious trouble, just the usual "looking for attention" behavior. He's kind of a leader and the proverbial class clown. He is a funny guy, if you're not trying to teach a class of high school students. Is this what every comedian's mother has had to deal with? He is generally popular with his peers, but slightly immature for his age. As parents, we were so tired of our 9 years, quarterly trips, up to meet the teachers routine. It was always the same "buckle down, you can do it" speech. It would work for a month or so.
Why are so many millions of kids screaming in need for ADHD meds? Hmm, this is not a good thing for our society and it truly mostly our society. So after a year of research and purchasing a lot of books, talking to counselors, and physicians, ((I've spent a mini fortune, but I (you) need to know)) the general conclusion to all these books and consultations, it came down to diet, sleep and exercise.
So our family GP said give the Attend product a try, you're probably wasting your money. Ah-ha, not if it money back guaranteed, right? What pharmaceutical company offers that? He just smiled at me.
We kept him on his ADHD meds, for his teacher's sanity, my son's and ours. Being a teenage boy, he wasn't happy about me chasing him down to take bi-daily supplements. Being a teenage boy, he wasn't happy about me taking away pre-packaged and boxed foods (yes, all the boxed foods, including his favorite cereals and cookies, I did it slowly, I'm not cruel, he was addicted.) Being a teenage boy, he wasn't happy about going to bed starting around 9pm. He is OK as far as the exercise part though, because when you hyper-active you need something to do and your usually in a lot of activities.
As I said, I couldn't get much in him, 1 capsule in the AM and 1 capsule in the PM. 4 months later he's now on board and he takes and array of supplements, including essential 2 - Omega 3's 1000 mg. each, 1 AM B-Complex 5000mcg, 60 mg. CoQ2 Enzymes, and Whole Foods: Super Multi (that includes calcium/magnesium, extremely important.)
I didn't know anything about homeopathic medicines or nutritional supplements last year at this time. Vaxa's Attend, Memorin and Extress are all natural with positively and absolutely no side effects. If there any gastro problems, it's going to be our (your) dietary choices. No weight gain can come from a B-complex, enzymes and homeopathic remedies, as someone's doctor suggested in an early review.
ADHD/Memory/Stress in internal imbalance. The "Brain" needs Omega's 3-6-9 and quality B-Complex to function properly. The enzymes merely help digest and process the foods our body is being given. The homeopathic component is for calming and focusing, all really good stuff and expensive if you bought it all individually.
We've reduced our son's ADHD meds from 40mg to 20mg. He's got finals coming up over the next few weeks and I'm not willing to let him fly cold turkey. This summer I'll be able to supervise this whole process more closely. I'm sure he still not making the best food choice at school (yes, I even tried making his lunch again, we digressed on that issue.) The ultimate goal is to get him off ADHD meds. Our family physician is curiously watching and would love to see the same results we all wish for.
...It's not a 1 pill wonder like our society wants, it was lifestyle change. Our family won't go back to our old lifestyle of convenient boxed or packaged foods, we eat whole foods now. We go to bed early and we walk/exercise everyday.
Good luck... after reading all that I've read, I hope this helps you on your journey to find the right answers for you and your child, it is not the mass-marketed answers.

A Converted Skeptic, June 9, 2007
I'm typically extremely wary of products such as this, but I decided to try it, since the Concerta I had been taking to treat my adult ADHD had basically lost its effectiveness for me. I have to say that I was amazed at how much better I felt within just a few days of taking Attend. Almost every one of my friends and family members noticed the difference in my behavior immediately and pointed it out to me. I swear by this product now and wouldn't think of starting my day without it.

Wow! It works for Adult ADD, December 4, 2007
I own/run a business. For more years than I care to admit to, my memory and time management as well as my ability to handle the "day to day" decisions became elusive, at best. Each year, these problems became worse and I lost much of my business because of my ADD (just diagnosed last year). My personal relationships have suffered from it as well. I turned 40 this year and decided that I couldn't live like this any longer. I have a strong aversion to prescription medication but reached a point where I would do anything to change my life, even if it meant turning to meds.
I began taking Attend about a month and a half ago as a last resort before prescription meds. I am so grateful to say that Attend has worked better than I imagined. The first noticeable change occurred in just a few days after starting Attend: I no longer feel like I'm in a fog every day and my awareness of time is much improved. Probably the most interesting improvement has been in my conversations with people. Before Attend, I had a very limited attention span in conversations and began to feel a "jittery" sensation after a short period of time. Now, I'm able to calmly listen and actually comprehend what people are saying during the entire conversation.
My business is improving as well. As erratic as my business is, my ability to set priorities and my awareness of due dates has significantly improved. I started to see an ADD coach this week to help facilitate the changes I wish to see in my life. I **highly** recommend Attend.
For the IBS sufferers, I was diagnosed with IBS and have not had a problem with Attend. I also drink 2 oz. of organic aloe vera juice every morning. FYI: IBS is very often misdiagnosed. You may have a wheat allergy instead. If you haven't been tested for a wheat allergy, do so. IBS & wheat allergy symptoms are very similar. Most physicians aren't aware of that so you'll have to bring it up to them. I'm glad I did. No more pain, no more IBS medication. Unfortunately, no more beer, bread or pizza.
