2.0 out of 5 stars Too Watered Down for My Tastes, May 13, 2006
From the openning cut by Fergie (which drones so bad) to the final notes of the CD, i felt that sinking feeling...and there's got to be "a morning after".

Many have panned the film and I agree with them. However the score does not help with many assessment of the film.

The 40 minutes score presented on this cd are so water-logged I am still trying to get the water outta of ears. Klaus Badelt tried too hard to make a Titanic outta this sinking ship. The horns seems no muted like they are underwater..too much tuba involvement this combined with Bass oboes i think it dont work here, you need more music for action and not the sea. The strings section try to give a Staccato feeling for the action and it misses. For a good example of this action feeling, you need to get the Firm soundtrack to see it.

The best cut on the whole sounding is "drowning" (YES, I am serious of the name of the cut!). Which is also what I suggest you should do with this CD if you buy it

5.0 out of 5 stars Poseidon, June 2, 2006
Poseidon is a great soundtrack, mixed in with score and pop music. The first three songs are songs and the rest are score tracks. The track songs are fast paced and action like, having a little bit of strings in it and drums. This soundtrack is highly recommended to you if you like to have your own adventures while listening to your portable CD player. Klaus Badelt does a great job of putting this actionpacked soundtrack together!

1. Won't Let You Fall (song) 4/5
2. Bailamos (song) 4/5
3. Postales (song) 5/5 (great beat)
4. Poseidon 4/5
5. Wave 5/5
6. Map and a Plan 4/5
7. Fire Dive 4/5
8. Claustrophobia 3/5
9. Drowning 5/5
10. Don't Look Down 4/5
11. Escape 5/5

If you liked this soundtrack, you make consider checking out these...

1. When a Stranger Calls~ James Dooley (My grade* A-)
2. The Da Vinci Code~ Hans Zimmer (My grade* A)
3. Bee Season~ Jeffrey Allen (My grade* B+)
4. Mission Impossible 3~ Michael Giacchino (My grade* B)

Hope you enjoy!

Overall grade* B+

4.0 out of 5 stars A soundtrack that is both relaxing and thrilling all at the sametime, July 8, 2006
This soundtrack to the new remake of the Adventure film, Poseidon features songs from pop artist Fergie and suspensful as well as, breathtaking orchestra themes from composer Klaus Badelt. After seeing the film for the first time, the action sequences not only got my heart racing but the score to the film was very good and after hearing the songs in the movie I just had to get the soundrack. For me listening to the soundtrack was a whole new experience. Especially, when you combine the talents of a beautiful singer from the film and the orchestra score of Klaus Badelt it makes for a very engaging soundrack. I became intrigued by Badelt's work after listening to his score from the thriller spy film, "The Recruit" where there's a lot of techno spy music that runs through the core of the film. Here in Poseidon it's a mix of the music from films like the "Titanic" and "The Perfect Storm" where he incorperates a mix of beautiful melodies and haunting pulse pounding rhythms where you are thrown into the very frightening and intense life and death scenerios that the actors experienced while making the film. Interestingly enough, it was Wolfgang Petersen who directed Poseidon and you might recall that he also directed "The Perfect Storm" in 2000. For me personally, it would have been nice if he could have shown an exciting rescue scene toward the end where you see the PJs pulling the survivors out of the water like he did in "The Perfect Storm" but that's another story. In all, this soundtrack is definitely worth a look if you're a fan of adventure films like "The Perfect Storm" or "the Poseidon Adventure".
