5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Anime, April 30, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
An excellent anime, the best first episode I've seen to date. It explores some interesting themes, themes not usally explored in anime. The action is solid, the story flows pretty even with sudden moments of insanity. The Takuto/Ryu Soma character though arrogant, rude and self absorbed is extremly human, hes a young guy in love that maybe isn't ready for love. Argento Soma is a good mixture of the mental and emotional. A must have for any anime collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best mech show you have never seen , February 8, 2009
Argentosoma is a mech anime. A pretty good one, but won't ever reach the likes of Evangelion or Gurran Lagan on many respects. The animation suffers in the halfway point, but gets back to good by the end. The story itself doesn't follow traditional mech storyline involving mech pilots fighting an alien invasion until the final episode. It looks like it is at first, but then goes a significantly different direction which is very welcomed. The English voice acting is well picked with no noticeably uneven cast selection. I recommend this to any mech fan who wants to see something different.

3.0 out of 5 stars Aliens beware, Argentosoma is here!, February 12, 2008
Argentosoma is a competent anime. The animation is done nicely, but the aliens that are fought are not thought out to well. Each alien monster looks exactly alike, with the only differences being various size and slightly different powers so it can get a little boring in parts. The only characters that are giving any depth are a little girl named Hattie and a young man named Takuto. The rest of the ensemble aren't giving much of a back story except for the very last episode that gives some back round on one of the lesser fighters, Sue. The anime drags the first episode but after the second episode things pick up. There are better anime out there but for the price you can't go wrong.

I really enjoyed this series. The story and characters are top-notch. I found myself watching this in a two part marathon, because I had to see what was going to happen next. Read more
