1.0 out of 5 stars Go with the Discraft 175g Ultra Star, April 11, 2008
By carl (Waukesha, WI United States) - See all my reviews
All organized ultimate played in the United States and most of the world uses the Discraft Ultra Star: Discraft Ultra Star - White.

This is not a bad product, but I rate this low since there is a better option out there for a lower price.

The differences are subtle, but certainly are noticable with a different feel on the grip and thickness of the disc.

With that being said, any 175g disc is going to be light years better to any freebie "frisbee" and cheap disc you buy. You'll throw farther, more accurate, and have much more control with a 175g disc especially if you're having trouble in windier conditions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good balance, good flight, great buy, February 25, 2008

It's been almost a year since I've owned this frisbee and while I haven't had the opportunity to throw it a lot, it's been a pleasure each time I get the chance. It certainly replaces the good quality 175 I had before my dog got to it. I like 175g discs because they aren't affected by normal breezes and have enough weight to carry momentum a long distance. But are not so heavy that they take a strong person to throw and/or catch. This is a great all-around frisbee.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine disc, January 18, 2008
By S. Carmichael (Westerville, OH USA) - See all my reviews

I play with both discraft and whamo... No noticeable difference.. Maybe if your a pro or a faithful of discraft (or maybe work for them).. then you can tell the difference or at least will claim that discraft is the best... Apparently that must be the case in some of the other reviews... But for casual players and backyard frisbee enthusiasts (like me) this disc is a great flying disc and has a great feel to me...But hey, I am a regular guy... I like Discraft too... I like golf too... but I do not claim allegiance to Titlest either, or Nike Golf shirts. Its a brand for all sakes........ I just don't fall into that Taste Great - Less filling, Ford - chevy, Democrat - Republican camps like so many reviewers do... Its a frisbee... My only gripe with Whamo is, there ridiculous trademark claim on the word frisbee.... Good disc... You won't be disappointed...

You can't use it for ultimate, so what's the point? If you try to throw with this disc, you'll find that the sharp rim digs into your hand. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars tacos anyone?
In my experience Wham-O's get taco-ed. Not because they're especially susceptible to bending out of shape, but because people enjoy seeing them taco-ed. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars fine for throwing around, not suitable for ultimate
my wife got me this whamo disc, and i don't have complaints for it as a frisbee. For playing ultimate, the Discraft ultra-star is preferable, it has better flying characteristics... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars I disagree
Wham-O may have invented the "Frisbee", but for ultimate Discraft's flying discs have surpassed these. Wham-Os are good starter discs, but for serious play Discraft is king.

5.0 out of 5 stars ULTIMATE Frisbee
The disc has a great feel to it and one toss lets you know that Wham-O makes great frisbees. For speed and accuracy this is a great choice.
