I've never been great with kites but this was on sale so I stuffed it in my backpack for a recent trip to Michigan's beautiful Traverse City shores, as a surprise for my 9-year-old son. There was something so appealing about the miniature packaging, which is about 4 inches across.

He loved it. I only wish the boy flying a kite farther down the beach had as much fun with a beautiful kite he was flying against the backdrop of his dad's voice, loudly warning him not to crash the expensive contraption.

OK, so this isn't a high-end kite. For the highly-skilled kite-flyer, it's probably not much of a challenge. But compared to cheap plastic kites in its price range, it held up perfectly to the breezy skies we encountered, packed away easily, and we didn't worry about leaving it on shore when we went out wading.

Lots of fun and highly recommended for areas free of power lines and trees.
