Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Welcome to the next chapter of rock `n' roll debauchery! Fang Bang is the new solo album from Wednesday 13, the former Murderdolls frontman and founder of the legendary cult band, Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13. Featuring his best work yet, Fang Bang blends punky rockers with his trademark horror film inspired lyrics. The album's first single and video is "My Home Sweet Homicide" and other standouts include "Buried With Children," "Faith In The Devil" and a cover of Roky Erickson's "Burn The Flames" (from the Return Of The Living Dead soundtrack). Produced by Wednesday 13, Fang Bang was mixed by the legendary Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, KISS).

4.0 out of 5 stars Wednesday 13 does Pop Punk, September 21, 2006
By EerieVonEvil (The Rabbit Hole) - See all my reviews
Does he pull it off? Mostly. Is this album as good as Transylvania 90210? No way. But we are talking about two completely different sounds though. Fang Bang is a fun catchy record with awesome punk riffs, anthem-like choruses, and of course, Wednesday 13's trademark gravel vocals. Unlike the punk/metal Alice Cooper-esque sound of his first solo album, Fang Bang calls to mind Billy Idol, The Ramones, or even The Dickies as far as style is concerned. All these catchy songs are glossed over with accessible melodies, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. I mean, this is WAY better than anything on the radio/TV these days. Wednesday 13 has a great knack for writing crafty tongue-in-cheek horror-themed lyrics too funny to be compared to The Misfits or any other of the horror-rock ilk. Its a fun album and is totally worth repeated listens especially for the songs Home Sweet Homicide, Haddonfield(great great song), Happily Ever Cadaver, and Die Sci Fi. The cover of Roky Erikson's Burn The Flames, which originally appeared on the Return Of The Living Dead soundtrack in 1985, is superb. I never thought anyone would cover such a great song. The only reason I dropped a star is because a few of the choruses are repetative almost to the point of annoying(see Morgue Than Words and Too Much Blood), but these are small complaints. Bottom line is this: If you like horror punk/rock and have a sense of humor, then this is really going to appeal to you. Just remember, this is NOT at all like ANY of his previous work. It is way more melodic. Just have an open mind and you're good to go. Also check out Blitzkid if you like this.

Exciting stuff

5.0 out of 5 stars i've tried to walk the line with u at least a million times, November 9, 2006
the songs on this one arent quite as dark as transylvania 90210... they still are full of morbid humor and clever word play.. morgue than words.. come on u cant help but smile.. this album is alot shinier than the others.. so far i love it, but not as much as transylvania... although when transylvania came out i liked beyond the valley of the murderdolls better for the longest time.. so maybe in a few months this will be my favorite.. i highly suggest this album....

wednesday is so great to his fans he diserves ur support...

i know i've met him....

rock on

(REAL NAME)
Well is getting closer to Halloween again and Wednesday 13 has woken from his grave to give us another dose of tricks and treats. Maybe a little more trick than treat. Having discovered Wednesday 13's work two years ago I have been a diehard fan ever since. I was extremely excited for his next release. I will say I was a bit disappointed. Part of the reason for this is that it is the follow up album to "Transylvania 90210". That album is pure horror rock greatness that "Fang Bang" had a lot to live up to. Compared to "Transylvania 90210" I'm sorry to say "Fang Bang" comes up a bit short.

This is not to say that it is not an enjoyable record. If someone is a big Wednesday 13 fan I fully recommend picking this one up. However, if one is expecting a heavy riff crazy/nasty record he or she will be somewhat disappointed. While listening to the album one can tell that Wednesday is being much more tongue and cheek. "Fang Bang" has a much more punk edge while the Murderdolls and his first solo effort are closer to heavy metal. The lyrics are still extremely Wednesday like. They are all about ghouls, werewolves, and classic horror movie slashers. Stand out tracks include "My Home Sweet Homicide", "Faith in the Devil", and "Too Much Blood".

An important thing to remember is that there is not one original member from Transylvania on "Fang Bang" except for Wednesday. So this also could play a part in the sound change. The musicianship is not as strong on this record as the two albums that came before it. It is by no means bad, just not as good. The best way to describe the sound of this record is that is sounds like a combination of the first couple of Frankenstein's Drag Queens albums and the 90210 record. As a whole I am glad to have another batch of ghoulish treats from Mr. 13 however I am hoping for a much raunchier, meaner, and deadlier Wednesday 13 in his next recorded effort.
