Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Their latest record follows a brief two-year hiatus and is their most diverse album in the past ten years. Angry and other times haunting vocals are forged to incessant beats, permeating melodies, and relentless bass lines. Fans of The Cure will love "Crushed", while experienced VAC listeners will appreciate the intensity of "Wound" and "Lust", at the same time finding a slightly different vocal style in "Parasite". "Lust For Blood" proves that VAC hasn't even begun to tap into the innovations they're capable of, even with a decade of musical experience under their belt.

5.0 out of 5 stars In one word...Amazing, December 8, 2007
Lust for Blood is a masterpiece and it truly shows that Velvet Acid Christ is here to stay. On this album, we can clearly see a dramatic change not only in album production but also in song writing and sound quality as well. Bryan Erickson, the mastermind behind VAC, has excellent taste in all kinds of music and he demonstrates that on this album. As a result, no two songs on LFB are exactly the same. From the second "Wound" starts, you know you are in for something special. It is the perfect way to start the album and is filled with emotion that gets under your skin. "Crushed" is full of beautiful guitars reminiscent of The Cure with VAC's trademark distorted vocals on top. "Disconnected Nightmare" on the other hand, will instantly appeal to longtime fans and is reminiscent of the 1999-2000 era of VAC. "Polyester Meth Zeus" has an undeniable amount of industrial flavor to it and is angry and power driven. In my opinion, "Ghost in the Circuit" is VAC's most beautiful song ever due to the heavenly choirs and endless layers of sound. "Machine" shows a completely different side to VAC altogether and both the vocals and the music and will definitely surprise longtime fans. "Blood" is the dark epic of the album and is complete with evil sounding piano and guitar and seems like it's beckoning the apocalypse. "Psychoaktive Landscapes" and "Ghost Regen" are two more awesome instrumentals, the former of which actually shares many similarities with the legendary electronic duo Orbital. This album marks a new era for Velvet Acid Christ and guarantees them a place in the history of electronic music. Whether you are new to Velvet Acid Christ or are a diehard fan, you owe it to yourself to buy this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yay for new VAC material, November 26, 2006
I am relatively new to Velvet Acid Christ's music so I can't pretend to be an expert on their music. I recently acquired the new VAC album "Lust for Blood". I was not disappointed to say the very least. "Lust for Blood" has all the elements in electro/industrial music that I like. Normally I do not enjoy distorted vocals but in this case, I liked the distorted vocals. The only negative thing about the distorted vocals that I couldn't understand what Bryan Erickson was singing about without looking at the cd booklet. I especially loved the instrumental tracks which were quite beautiful, a far contrast from the harsh distorted beats of the other songs. I wasn't too impressed with VAC's previous studio effort "Hex Angel". It wasn't bad but it wasn't all that great either. The music didn't really capture the essence of Velvet Acid Christ like their previous albums and now "Lust for Blood". The lyrics may be cheesy but at least Bryan Erickson doesn't take himself too seriously with his music like a lot of industrial bands do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Velvet Acid Christ comes for your blood, September 27, 2006
By Morokiane (Las Vegas) - See all my reviews
Velvet Acid Christ is my favorite band, the first CD I ever heard by them is Twisted Thought Generator (TTG), it and Fun with Knives (FWK) are my top favorite, but there is nothing that I really don't like that has been done by VAC. Hex Angel though was a disappointment for me, it just didn't have that VAC cathiness that kept me coming back for more. So I was kind of weary upon listening to Lust for Blood. Though it might lack the trance stylings of FWK and TTG it is a well thought out, well put together CD that topples what Hex-Angel was. This album is a dark, broody, elegant musically feast. Some of the songs just send chills up my spine. Some of the songs remind me of older VAC from Fate and Pestilence. This goes on to prove that VAC can still make good music time and time again, while keeping it fresh and new.
