This case is really not for Archos AV500(30GB). The description should be more specific stating that it is really for AV500(100GB), because the case is way too big for AV500(30GB) model. Also, there is no opening to access to the audio input when the cover is closed (not a very good design). One more disappointing feature about this case is that the sides of the case can't really protect the player as they are made of thin soft leather with no padding or cardboard reinforcement whatsoever. What's the point? If you drop this thing, it is most likely that the edge is going hit the floor first, so with no protection on the side, this is really not very useful as a protective case.

The leather is, however, of good quality.
