Editorial Reviews

Product Description

C-Rayz Walz is a unique rap entity. This hard working MC is always on the grind and he has made some major accomplishments in just a short time in his career: building a body count of popular MCs in battles, he had a video in rotation on BET, he's released 20 singles independently and he cracked the Billboard Top 100 Hip Hop Chart with "Ravipops" at #61. A true character with some of the most memorable lyrics around, C-Rayz Walz became a familiar face on the New York hip hop scene. C-Rayz was banned from the Blaze magazine battles a few years ago because he defeated everyone he ever went up against. He was recently handpicked by the Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon to open for Raekwon on tour. C-Rayz has released two previous albums, Limelight, featuring Academy Award winner Adrian Brody, and The Prelude, which featured some production by Ghostface. While working on his grind and releasing his own singles, he also signed to the Def Jux label and made underground hip hop history by appearing on the MTV series "I Wanna Be Made" as a rap coach.

His new album, 1975 Return of the Beast is executive produced by two indie hop hop powerhouses, Howie McDuffie and Ill Bill for Draft Records. C-Rayz is still constantly hustling, performing spot dates around the country. His new album features some of his new and old friends, M-1 of Dead Prez, Aesop Rock, Cannibal Ox, El-P and Jean Grae. With a stellar lineup and some unexpected surprises, C-Rayz Walz latest album is a musical gem that will light up the independent rap music landscape.

5.0 out of 5 stars What?, February 1, 2007
After seeing these other reviews, I had to do this. These people are crazy. Yeah it doesn't sound that good, but either did Ravipops and that was a great album. This is just as good, if not better cuz it has a lot of Walz rapping, and minimal guests. The beats are really tight, and Walz is better than ever. I like this better than year of the Beast. Can't wait for another true album though, as this is a mixtape. Def Jux releases are always good, and Walz next one should be incredible.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's C-Rayz thats about all I can say, November 27, 2006
This album is pretty much a mixtape of a bunch of C-Rayz Walz' tracks outside of his Def Jux releases. Its mixed terribly, and some of the tracks are low quality. The songs are by C-Rayz so they are good throughout, but you've probably heard them before if you're reading this. This whole thing seems rushed and unecessary. Pick up Ravipops, or The Limelight if you can find it, and avoid this.

3.0 out of 5 stars *Caution*, November 22, 2006

This is a mixtape. Not an extremely well mixed one at that.

It cuts out randomly and the quality isn't very high However, the beats are pretty good and the lyrics are great. So, just a word of advice, avoid unless you are collecting his discography. Go get Ravipops instead.

I just wonder what they were thinking about when they put this out like this?

4.0 out of 5 stars 3.75 Stars! But Disclaimer Needed!
Yes, a disclaimer is needed. This is basically a mixtape of old C Rayz material. And the mixing is horrible on a few songs, if it is even considered mixing. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Wake up people.
This is a mixtape of some pretty old songs. Some are hard to find and that's why he put this album out. The songs are top notch even if the audio quality isn't. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissappointing Audio Quality
The Rhymes and Beats are mainly top notch. In contrast, the audio quality and presentation are markedly amateurish. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars 1975: Return Of The Beast
This is a great collection of tracks but like said before by other reviewers, the songs cut out funny from one track to the next. There seems to be a 2 sec. delay or so. Read more
