--Sunset
March 1996
Editor Stanley Eichelbaum asked 70 chefs from Northern California how they cut back on fat without sacrificing flavor. Not every one of their 100 recipes passes for lean, but all are inspiring.

Product Description

From Alice Waters at Chez Panisse to Jeremiah Towers at Stars, 60 world-famous culinary professionals have teamed up to create this lavishly illustrated, low-fat, low-calorie cookbook to benefit the San Francisco Food Bank. One hundred luscious recipes, all tailored for the home cook, include such tempting dishes as Reed Hearon's Sopa Ranchera and Patricia Unterman's Crab and Mango Salad in a gloriously photographed volume that will delight the palate even as it nurtures the heart and soul. ?

?A portion of the proceeds benefits the San Francisco Food Bank and its programs supporting those in need.?

?The San Francisco Food Bank works with more than 300 shelters, soup kitchens, AIDS service organizations, after-school programs, and other food providers to distribute millions of pounds of food to San Franciscans in need. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some great recipes!, August 7, 2002
By A Customer
Although some of the recipes contain exotic ingredients that may be hard to get in some areas, many are relatively simple and incredibly delicious! Amazingly, they are also all low-fat. Plus, the book benefits a good cause. I've never gone wrong cooking something out of here--always raves from the guests!
