The shojo (girls') series Rumbling Hearts (2003) exemplifies the kind of weeping romance that has been popular in Japan for centuries. Sweet, shy high school student Haruka nurtures a crush on Narumi; their mutual friend Hayase brings them together, and life is beautiful.
