About the Actor

Daniel Pink is the author of A Whole New Mind, the groundbreaking guide to surviving, thriving, and finding meaning in an outsourced, automated, upside down world. Now in its eighth North American printing, A Whole New Mind is being translated into 12 languages and will appear across Europe and Asia in 2006. Several publications -- including strategy+business, The Miami Herald, and Fast Company -- named it one of the Best Business Books of 2005. A popular speaker, Dan has lectured on work, business, and economic transformation to corporations, associations, and universities around the world.

Product Description

Just as we were getting used to the information age, Daniel Pink tells us that it is ending. With it goes our focus on charts, statistics, and linear thinking. Traditional "left-brain" activities like logic, analysis, and repetitive production are being turned over to robots, computers, and offshore labor. The valued skills of 21st century will be those of the right brain: empathy, design, synthesis, and contextual thinking. Author and lecturer Daniel Pink tells you how abundance, Asia, and automation are changing the world, why "routine" is the scariest word in the English language, how old line companies like GM and Proctor & Gamble are responding and what six abilities matter most in the emerging age. Daniel Pink completed law school and passed the bar, but is proud to say that he has never practiced law. What he has done is write best-selling business books, work in the White House and as a Senate staffer, advise Fortune 100 companies, provide business analysis on TV and radio, and write for the New York Times, Harvard Business Review, and Wired Magazine. Bonus materials include in-depth interview, audience Q&A session, and more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tickled Pink, November 14, 2007
I read A Whole New Mind shortly after it was published, because I had enjoyed Dan's previous book, Free Agent Nation. As a college professor, speaker and consultant, I like to share what I read with others.

When I discuss important trends with my students, I always include information from AWNM. That is why I was so pleased to discover this DVD. In less than an hour, Pink provides an entertaining, yet clear and concise, overview of the core message from his book. I've shown it to a number of my classes already and there is always a great response from the students.

If you haven't read the book, this video is a great introduction. If you've read the book and want a short refresher, this is just what you are looking for.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Whole New Mind DVD, March 30, 2008

This DVD is a great intro to Daniel Pink's book of the same title. It gives an overview of the concepts and stories from the book while NOT giving too much away. I watched it before I read his book and it helped to build some background knowledge and prepared me for what was to come in his book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Whole new mind transforms a college, February 8, 2008
By Design Muse "PCCteacher" (Pueblo, Colorado USA) - See all my reviews
Be very, very careful with whom you share this video because it can change how people view the work place and their lives. This is an excellent introduction to Dan Pink's ideas about what will be valued in the near future and why it is important to grasp the concepts now.
Also, a word of warning - make certain that the local library has a copy because once folks know that you have it, they'll want to view it and share it with their peers.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're wavering on getting the book, this is a good compromise
In my review of the book on which this DVD is based, I mentioned that the whole left-brain, right-brain dichotomy is an oversimplification. Yet, it's still a useful model. Read more
